STEPHEN BOYD WAS EFFICIENT

I recently got my mortgage through Stephen Boyd at American West. He worked hard to get my loan processed on time. Cathy, the loan processor worked so hard in gathering all my paperwork on time and to also prepare all the info of what the underwriter would ask for. Both knew what the underwriting was going to ask for and how to get the paper work ready for when she asked for them. I can't say very much for the underwriter though... Maybe just try asking Stephen and Cathy to get you to Judy. She was a nice underwriter that I wish I could have had.

Overall great experience

We recently selected AmericanWest Bank as our mortgage lender, and we have been extreamly happy with that choice. The staff was friendly, knowledgable, and eager to do the best job they could. Our loan officer was Christy King, and she was fantastic. She took the time to answer any questions we had every time. You can't go wrong with them.

Christy King tries her best and responds quickly

I am a borrower who is highly qualified in many ways – high income to loan ratio, debt free, good credit score, over 40% down payment, and years of reserves in the bank. But my one problem is that I am a temporary worker, and that turned many banks and lenders away. Temporary work is quite common in the Great Recession because businesses don’t have to pay benefits. Christy and AmericanWest Bank was flexible and agreed to put me on a portfolio loan, and refinance later when I have two years of temporary work history. In the end I did get a 30 year fixed loan from AmericanWest Bank – but it was Christy’s initial flexibility to put me on a portfolio loan that got me the pre-approval from AmericanWest Bank. With most other banks, I got turned away without a loan pre-approval. I eventually did get a pre-approval from another bank, but that took a few weeks. During that waiting period, e-mails and phone calls to that other loan officer went unanswered and I gave up. In contrast Christy always responds to her e-mails quickly and thoroughly. When you shop for a loan, you are really shopping for a loan officer. The 0.1% rate difference is not a big deal. The important thing is to find someone who does more than the minimum and responds to your questions quickly.

EXCELLENT SERVICE FROM START TO FINISH

My experience with the lender was very pleasant because he returned my calls very quickly and answered all of my questions along the way. Their fees are very reasonable and they don't surprise you at closing with extra fees for themselves. Compared to 4 other lenders, they offered me the lowest interest rate and lowest fees. I would highly recommend AmericanWest Bank.

Michele Martin - Excellent

Moving half way across the country with time demands on closing and my original lender was dragging their feet. After multiple mistakes on the first set of disclosures, I was forced to fire them and start over with less than 20 days before closing. I tried Lending Tree and got several calls from lenders in the first hour. I felt a good vibe with Michele Martin and decided to give her and AmericaWest a shot. Michele was great! She got everything done timely and correctly, and kept me update with calls and emails along the way. She helped make a very hectic and stressful time seem much more orderly. I don't normally write reviews on much of anything, but Michele's professionalism in my family's time of need motivated me to share this with others.

Michele Martin was excellent

We could not be more pleased with our AmericanWest experience with Michele. She went above and beyond to get us a great rate and meet our quick closing deadline. She was always in contact to keep us informed of our status. Her professionalism and knowledge was above any other we have delt with on our 4 other home purchases. We highly recommend her.

Great People to Work With

We have had a great experience with AmericanWest Bank. We had been shopping for a house for the last 6 months and thought we had a great lender lined up as it had been someone I had been working on and off with for the past couple years. As we got closer to making an offer we began to look more closely at the fees and line items within the fee sheet estimates. The costs were seemingly beginning to be bit excessive. So it was crunch time and I thought I would get a few different fee sheet estimates to get an idea of what others were charging for specific interest rates and so forth. So I went out to lendingtree.com and filled out there quick application. Within 5 minutes of doing so I had a call from David at AmericanWest Bank. I knew from that point on that he was on the ball. Within 30 minutes I had a fee estimate which 35% less than my previous lender which included the best possible rate (%3.875) with no buy down. I entertained a few more estimates from some other lenders but AmericanWest Bank was by far the best. They all were very friendly and very responsive to my needs. Any email or phone call I put into him was returned very quickly. We closed within 30 days from the day David contacted me. Working with AmericanWest Bank and David was a great experience and I would recommend it to anyone.
