Charter One doesn't care about your loan

We recently applied for a loan with them, and they messed up our application. After they fixed it, they spent more time bickering over what their policies are than listening to us about what we need. When asked to speak to the "credit manager" who makes the decision, you get nothing. Charter One doesn't care about you, or your loan. FIND A DIFFERENT BANK.

Great Interactions

This request was simple and very straight forward with Charter One. Amy was professional and very helpful in all aspects of the loan process and afterwards. This was one of my best experiences with dealings for a loan be it mortgage, refinance, car loan, personal loan or in my new experience a Home Equity Line of Credit. This was great and would highly recommend Charter One for ease of informational needs and the whole overall process.

The lack of an annual fee clinched my business. Note, however, that the disclosure document that got sent early in the process said there was an annual fee, a statement that contradicted the advertising. The final documents signed at closing included an addendum removing the annual fee. Either the disclosure document should be revised to state that there is no annual fee, or the fact that the final documents will include an addendum that will remove the fee should be made clear sooner.

What I liked most is that I had the same person working with me. It felt more personal and she was able to meet my needs and made suggestions to meet my needs...things that I didn't consider. I would recommend Charter One. The process was simple and didn't take very long at all. Unlike other banks, they estimated taking 5-6 weeks to do what Charter One accomplished in less than 3wks. Bravo!

The BEST!

Out of all the banks that contacted me, Charter One, was the absolute best. Monica was the friendliest, the quickest and the BEST all around. If they contact you, please, please, just go with them and ignore everyone else. She answered all my questions, made me feel comfortable with everything, mailed me all documents, no costs, etc. Don't call anyone else, respond to Charter One.

Line of credit

I bought a HUD home in excellent condition for cash and then financed it to pay off credit cards and the like. It has worked well for me.

loan for my son's college

ok rate, blurry information (car salesman like), way too much checking and rechecking and rechecking, and rechecking of employment and wages and RECHECKING. every day!!! I OWN my home, same job for 9 years, I have an excellent credit score and still got treated like it was my first loan! Not my fault the banks used to give loans to everybody with a pulse for everything! NOW they are careful?????
