1st phone call

The 1st phone call I received, the man was rude and rushed everything. I will not use a company that treats there customers that way. 1st impressions count unfortunatley.

re home

I am so pleased with the way my Home Loan application was handled. the Bank took me by the hand and let me explore options and also adviced me in the best possible way. There were times that I felt overwhelmed but the Representative kept motivating me through his follow upas and his pep talks. Continental Home Loan Thanks a Bunch

Professional & Prompt

The team I worked with made my home buying experience a pleasure. From the day I had my home inspection, Continental closed my loan in 35 days. Michael D. & Nicole S. were very professional and prompt and made what could have been a very stressful experience much more simplified (especially since I am 9 months pregnant!!) I would definitely recommend their services to anyone that asks.

Best Experience Ever!

As a blue-collar, single father of three with poor credit, I always assumed home ownership was out of my reach. On a lark one night, I filled out a form on lending tree. The next morning, I recieved a call from Logan Gruntz at Continental. He was candid about my issues, but promised he could help. It's wonderful in this day and age to see a man live up to his word. We took a multi-pronged attack on my home buying, with Logan walking me through how to improve my credit while looking at homes that were within my price range. By following his advice precisely, my credit steadily improved while I found the perfect house. In fact, even between my initial estimate when I found the house and closing day, my points and interest went down. I really can't praise Logan enough, along with the rest of the team at Continental, including Michelle Esposito and Joyce Frazzetta, who also went above and beyond to make the american dream this americans reality. I would recommend Continental to anyone looking to buy a home. Oh, and even after I closed, Logan called to see how everything went. Thank you, Continental!

Worse Experience Ever

Well I was working with Mike D'Conti. Seemed like a nice guy at first but also seemed very inexperienced and was very unprofessional. He first told me that I would be pre qualified if my credit score was a certain score. My credit score was well above what he requested. I left numerous messages for him to contact me back and I had to hunt down his supervisor just to get him on the phone. He claimed he was sick but was never sick enough to keep requesting form after form and document after document. He told me everything was set and I could start looking at houses. Myself and my broker spendt a month and a half to two months looking at houses until I found the perfect one for my family. Mike demanded I find a house that offered seller concession before he would give me a pre-approval letter, but I woultn't know if the seller would accept seller concession without a pre-approval letter? My broker and I eventually got together as we spend countless houses doing whatever Mike wanted and signed a contract. 5 Minutes after I left my brokers office Mike called me and said I wont be able to get pre approved unless I bumped my credit score up another 40 points! I told him this was totally unacceptable and this was nothing he told me from our first conversation. Mike proceeded to make things up saying its on a case by case basis; however failed to mention this to me at any time. As this process went on Mike kept informing me on more and more money I needed to cover this cost and the next cost. Then his boss called me knowing this was my first time ever going through this experience and basically made me feel like an idiot because I didnt understand some of the terminology he was using. He basically told me they can't help me unless I get more money. They have now left me and my family in a position where we are on a fixed income and about to have no where to live. He not only wasted my time and my money but my brokers time as well and I feel responsible. I would not reccommend doing business with these people, especially if you are a first time home buyer. As a first time home buyer I thought there were options out there for me. i was told from the very beginning "this is the loan your getting and thats it, your not eligible for anything else!" Once again I would not recommend doing business with these people because if you dont know what your doing they will give you the run around, waste your time and money, and end up leaving you in a world of misery like myself. They really made me never want to experience buying my own home ever again and this was suppose to be something I was excited about. I went this route because it wouild have been a waste to rent and throw my money away when I could have had a morgage for less then what rent would be. Fortunately I won't give up because of these people and have moved on to another lender who treats me with the respect I deserve.

Continental Home Loans, Inc. Response

Thanks for your post. We at Continental Home Loans Inc. appreciate all feedback. As you may be well aware the industry is changing very rapidly. The credit score requirements are ever-changing as well; sometimes this effect’s the borrowers ability to qualify for a mortgage, which unfortunately happened in this case. In regards to the seller’s concession suggestion, we usually inform borrowers of this to help facilitate the transaction if they are short on funds for closing, which unfortunately, also happened in this case. Continental Home Loans Inc. prides itself on preliminary work before handing out a pre-approval letter as we like to try to make sure the borrower will not run into problems once the application process has begun. In regards to the terminology used during our conversations, we strive to always keep our borrowers educated of the process throughout the transaction, we apologize if there was a misunderstanding with some of the terminology we had used during this transaction. As far as a first-time homebuyer goes, we specialize in FHA Loans and are the #1 privately held FHA lender in New York State, and we apologize again for being unable to assist you with your mortgage needs. We hope this clarifies all of your concerns, but as always, if there are further questions at this point, please feel free to contact us directly. Thanks again.

Highly Recommended

Fast, professional and responsive. Frank and Charlie answered all my questions, and kept me informed every step of the way. I'll actually miss talking with them so often. I wish I could give them 6 stars for "Responsiveness," they really went above and beyond. Plus, I got a good, straightforward deal with no surprises.

Brian was great!

Brian Coffey was our loan officer and really helpful. Even though our loan couldn't be completed because of HOA problems, Brian was thoughtful enough to follow-up later just to see if things worked out. Our attorney had misgivings about using a lender found on-line, but this experience proved him wrong. Be prepared for lots of paperwork but that is typical of all lenders today.
