I got a good rate and it seemed like the communication was going to be great. I was promised that I would be contacted every so often as I waited for underwriting to come through. Suddenly I dropped off the map and didn't hear back for weeks. I had to travel and forgot to tell the lenders - definitely a mistake on my part which I apologized for when I realized. While I was traveling I decided to send an email and got a pretty testy response back that the paperwork was ready and that I couldn't be given rate lock "for free" anymore. Then I was told that I couldn't include the closing costs because I had been unresponsive and the paperwork was done already. When asked why he didn't email me I was told that email was not for "adult conversations" whatever that means. I also was not called at my parents house - which I had given as an alternate number while out of town - because there was not a name on the voicemail message only their phone number. When I told him I was not happy with the lack of communication because it had cost me the closing costs he really let me have it in email. Paragraphs about how I should be grateful and I could just cancel right now. I was scared he was going to fire me so I just apologized and the loan went through. Good rate definitely, closing costs were a little higher than others, but definitely more attitude than I felt comfortable with. I had referred some folks to him and then stopped referring after his email.
