WestStar Mortgage Inc. (WestStar) is a privately held residential mortgage banking company with headquarters in the Washington, DC metropolitan suburb of Woodbridge, VA. It specializes in retail and wholesale lending, originating primarily FNMA, FHLMC and GNMA loans to be sold on a servicing released basis. WestStar is structured as a Sub-Chapter S Corporation. There are two principal owners currently, both of whom are active in the business. The firm was chartered on June 19, 2000 as the result of the consolidation of an existing mortgage brokerage joining together with an experienced leadership team coming from a large independent mortgage lender. As of April 2008, WestStar employed approximately 430 people located in its main corporate offices and in 70 Branch Offices.

Quick and Easy

We refinanced our mortgage with a cashout. This was our second refinance with Lending Tree, our first with Weststar. Weststar by far had the best rates. We had also called a number of the larger banks, all of whom told us that the Weststar quote was "too good to be true". We submitted our online loan application with Weststar on a Friday and received our loan approval only 12 business days later. Closing was (in our home!) on the 13th business day. Our cashout dollars were wired directly into our bank account another four business days later. Our loan officer was Sam Duran and we highly recommend him. Sam was very responsive to our many questions. If he didn't pick up the phone right away, he always returned our phone calls in no time. Sam's a super nice, customer-service-oriented guy and we highly recommend working with him. We do believe that the speed of our loan application process is due to his efforts.

Awesome Service

I had a wonderful experience with WestStar Mortgage. Mike Peoples did a great job - responsive, helpful and he followed through on everything he promised. Not only that, they offered the best loan terms I could find. I had other lenders tell me they could not match what these guys offered--this initially made me wonder if there was some catch. But, there were no catches. Mike was upfront with the numbers - there were no hidden surprises The charges were reasonable and to top it off, they had a mobile closer who did all of our closing docs in the comfort of our home. What more I could ask for? HIghly RECOMMEND! GREAT LENDER

refinance

Electronic application and other submissions was great. Be warned, closing must still be done the old way, with lots of paper. Michelle held the whole thing together as locks expired and rebates changed. If you decide on Westar be sure to ask for Michelle.

Excellent Experience

We had a great experience with the Refinance. The mortgage officer (Jim Duncan) was efficient and very responsive through both email and by phone. The rate was competitive with everyone else and the closing costs were the lowest we found. Everything was completed within about 3 weeks.

Mortgage Assistance

My experience with WestStar Mortgage, Inc. was very educational and overall they provided my family and I a great service. This was my first home buying experience and needless to say I came in very green. Chris LaRose and the team at WestStar helped to guide me through the long, sometimes tedious, process. When the dust settled I was able to secure a mortgage at a good rate and make my dream of home ownership a reality. I commend WestStar on their knowledgeable and customer service oriented staff. Chris never took a day off and even addressed concerns of mine while on vacation. Overall, it was a good experience and not only was I able to buy a house, but I also gained real insight into the lending process.

WM is a world class company with excellent service

I found WestStar Mortgage, Inc. on Lending Tree and my initial question about this company was, why should I do business with a company that doesn't have a single Lending Tree rating? but I must say that from day one the WM Loan Office (Mike Peoples) was very responsive and attentive to my needs. As first time homebuyer I needed all the help that I could and Mike was able to answer every question or concern that I had about not only the Mortgage Loan that I was seeking but also about such things as insurance, the price of the home, and the hole home ownership experience. Once I agree on a price with the sellers, I sent an e-mail to WM and about 6 other Mortgage companies, WM was very quick on their response time. I explained to Mike that I needed to close on the purchase within 28 days and that in the middle of it all I would be out of the country for 2 consecutive weeks, and he assure me it wouldn't be a problem and it never was, which as excellent because during my two weeks away, I didn't have to worry or think about the whole loan process. Also Mike worked with my Home Agent while I was out and she said that he was excellent and I'll quote an e-mail that sent to me about Mike's excellent service Quoted: "When you referred Mike Peoples to me, I was apprehensive because some times when you work with some one you don't know, it becomes difficult to get information but working with Mike it was easy, my questions were answered in time, my phone calls were returned, it was great working with him, he made my work easy. I will recommend him. " I too recommend WM and Mike Peoples (Loan Officer). I thank them for assisting me in becoming a first time homebuyer. Keep up the good work WM and I hope this is just one of many positive reviews for your company because you all deserve it. Thanks, Dixon
