LendingTree employees were recently given an extra incentive to roll up their sleeves for the COVID-19 vaccine.
To reward team members and encourage vaccinations, LendingTree created a “Stacks for Vax” sweepstakes that gave away 58 cash prizes totaling $100,000 to a randomly selected group of fully vaccinated employees.
“It was a fun way to put our money where our mouth is and show folks that we care about their well-being,” explained LendingTree Chief HR & Administrative Officer Jill Olmstead. “We’ve seen what this virus can do, and the more we can encourage people to take steps to stay safe and healthy, the better.”
Not only did the sweepstakes offer a unique way to reward employees, but it also made a big impact. A quarter of all LendingTree employees updated their vaccination status after the sweepstakes began.
Winners were just announced, and Fabian Luna, a QuoteWizard employee in Seattle, won the top prize of $15,000.
“I was in total disbelief, awe, to be exact,” Fabian described when he found out he’d won. “I think I’ve won a $20 gift card in the past, so winning the grand prize is mind-blowing.”
Fabian added, “Being relatively new to the organization, I was surprised by the extraordinary number of resources and impressive level of engagement everywhere you look. Not to mention the amount of talent I work with on a regular basis – I feel extremely fortunate to be part of LendingTree.”
In addition to Fabian’s big win, another seven people won $5,000 each, and 50 people won $1,000 each. Shannon Kennedy, an employee in Charlotte, North Carolina, delightedly joked when she found out she’d won $1,000: “Consider this my formal retirement announcement.”
The vaccination sweepstakes were created as an extension of LendingTree’s innovative wellness-focused employee benefits, which include flexible work arrangements and unlimited paid time off, as well as a new COVID-19 vaccination discount on health insurance.
With 1,400 employees and 12 locations across the US, the LendingTree team is expansive and diverse.
“We keep upping our game when it comes to the health and well-being of our workforce,” said Jill Olmstead, the Chief HR & Administrative Officer. “We’ve added an onsite health clinic to our new headquarters in Charlotte, and we’ve broadened our health insurance coverage, including the range of providers and types of services such as mental health. The pandemic has reminded us all that we need to take care of each other and prioritize our well-being.”
Perhaps LendingTree CEO Doug Lebda summed it up best: “It’s critical that we all do our part to stop the spread of COVID-19 by taking advantage of the effective vaccinations available to us, and we were thrilled to offer this incentive to our employees.”
