You've worked hard to earn a good credit score, and you deserve a card that offers reasonable rates as well as strong rewards and benefits. For those whose credit is considered good, but not quite excellent, there are plenty of credit cards available that can meet your needs.
If you are paying your balance in full each month, you should be earning the most rewards possible. At the same time, those with good credit who are trying to pay off their balances can take advantage of interest-free promotional financing offers on new purchases, balance transfers, or both.
Here are seven of the top credit cards for applicants with good credit:
Capital One® Venture® Rewards
The Capital One® Venture® Rewards credit card is an excellent choice for consumers with good credit who want to earn travel rewards, as it offers two miles per dollar spent on every purchase. There is no limit to the amount of miles you can earn, and the rewards do not expire as long as your account is open and active. New applicants can receive 40,000 bonus miles after spending $3,000 in the first three months of account opening, which is equal to $400 in travel. Redeem miles for past travel purchases using the Purchase Eraser that will allow you to receive a statement credit for travel you paid for with your credit card. You may also redeem miles when booking new travel reservations, including airfare, hotel stays, car rentals, cruise vacations, and more, through the Capital One Rewards Center.
Each mile is worth one cent, which makes it easy to determine how many miles you will need to book travel. In addition, you can redeem your rewards for cash via check, gift cards, merchandise, or experiences. Cardholders will be able to access the Capital One Credit Tracker to view their credit score at no extra cost any time they choose. Capital One® Venture® Rewards is a Visa Signature card, which offers complimentary upgrades and discounts when staying at hotels and while shopping. You may also enjoy a personalized concierge service and exclusive access to tickets to special events. This card has no foreign transaction fees and a $59 annual fee that is waived in the first year.
You may enjoy Chase Freedom® if you want to maximize rewards in revolving categories throughout the year. This card is a good fit for the consumer with good credit who doesn't spend a lot during the year. Cardholders will earn 5% cash back on the first $1,500 spent in different categories each quarter. You must activate the quarterly deals to receive the cash back, and 1% cash back on all other purchases. Once you have reached 2,000 points, you can redeem your rewards for $20 worth of statement credits, gift cards, or travel through the Chase Ultimate Rewards travel portal.
Your points will not expire as long as you keep an open and active account, and there is no limit on the cash back you can receive. New applicants are eligible to earn a $150 bonus after spending $500 within the first three months of opening the account. This card has no annual fee.
Citi® Double Cash
If you prefer not to deal with the hassle of revolving bonus reward categories, the Citi® Double Cash may be right for you. This card offers you a 1% cash back on every purchase at the time of the transaction, and another 1% cash back up on payment, for a total of 2% cash back. There are no limitations on the amount of cash back you can earn, and your rewards are redeemable as long as your account is open. When you have reached $25 in cash back, you may redeem your rewards in the form of a statement credit, check, or gift card. You can also have cash deposited directly into your Citi savings or checking account that has paid your credit card bill at least twice.
Cardholders will benefit from Citi Private Pass, which offers special access to tickets and discounts for sports events and shows. Another valuable benefit is Citi's Price Rewind program, which will automatically search for a lower price of an item and refund you the difference within 60 days of purchase, up to $1,200 each year. When you travel, you may be eligible for car rental insurance up to $50,000 when using this card. You will also feel secure with damage and theft purchase protection, up to $1,000, for items you purchased within 120 days of purchase. A personalized concierge service will help you make arrangements for travel or dinner reservations. This card is compatible with Apple Pay and has no annual fee.
Chase Slate® is an option worth considering for people who have good credit but need some assistance in reducing their debt. This card does not offer any rewards programs, but it provides a slew of other benefits for someone trying to get their finances back on track. Chase Slate® offers 0% APR introductory financing for 15 months on both purchases and balance transfers, with no balance transfer for the first 60 days after opening the account, instead of the normal 3% fee. After the introductory rate expires, the standard APR of 12.99% to 22.99% will apply, and there is no penalty interest rate. For those individuals who want to track their credit score, cardholders will have free access to their FICO score online, with specific reports detailing the reasons behind their score and information on how to manage credit health.
You will also have access to Chase's Blueprint program, which helps you monitor your debt payoff and select specific categories you will pay in full each month. In this way, you can avoid paying interest on everyday purchases such as gas and groceries. Using the Split feature, you can set a time frame and monthly payment plan for large purchases, like a new refrigerator or air conditioner. Cardholders may only transfer balances of credit card debt up to $15,000, so if you have debt from another credit card provider, Chase Slate® may help you manage it more easily and help you pay if off faster. This card has no annual fee.
