Business travelers who are loyal to Hilton hotels can find value in the Hilton Honors American Express Business Card, which charges a $95 annual fee. It earns rewards for purchase categories such as gas stations, flights and restaurants and offers helpful benefits including complimentary Hilton Honors Gold status and the ability to earn free weekend nights.
Hilton has 18 brands that fit into any company’s travel budget, such as the luxurious Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts, the upscale Embassy Suites by Hilton and the midscale Hampton Inn. It covers more than 6,500 properties in 119 countries. However, businesses that don’t want to be tied to one hotel chain might prefer a card such as the Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card, issued by Chase.
We break down what the Hilton Honors American Express Business Card offers and how the Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card compares.

Hilton Honors Gold and Diamond status
Hilton Honors Gold status is complimentary with your card, and offers benefits such as:
You can earn Diamond status by spending $40,000 in a calendar year on your card. Diamond status offers a wider range of benefits, including:
Earn free hotel nights
Cardholders can earn a weekend night from Hilton Honors after spending $15,000 on the card in a calendar year. And there’s a second weekend night available after spending $60,000 during the year (an additional $45,000 on top of the original $15,000 spent).
Free airport lounge visits
Enjoy 10 free visits each year to Priority Pass™ airport lounges (enrollment required). For the semi-frequent traveler who doesn’t need the extensive lounge access offered by a more expensive card such as The Business Platinum Card® from American Express ($695 annual fee) this is an excellent value.

No foreign transaction fee
If business takes you abroad, you can swipe the Hilton Honors American Express Business Card without worrying about an extra fee on every purchase – there is none.

Annual fee
It costs $95 a year to carry the Hilton Honors American Express Business Card. That’s reasonable for the value you can get from this card, but some business owners might prefer a no-annual-fee card.
You must spend to earn free nights
They’re called “free weekend nights,” but to earn them, you have to hit a certain spending amount each calendar year. You’ll earn the first free night after spending $15,000 and the second free night after spending an additional $45,000 (for a total of $60,000).
The rooms are standard and can only be booked for Friday, Saturday and Sunday stays.
Not all transfers are 1:1
Points may not transfer at 1:1 value. For example, if you want to exchange your Hilton Honors points for Delta miles, 10,000 points will equal 1,000 miles.
Diamond status requires spending
Cardholders get Hilton Honors Gold status just by having the Hilton Honors American Express Business Card. But to upgrade to Hilton Honors Diamond status, you’ll have to spend $40,000 on your card in a calendar year.

If you don’t want to tie your rewards to the Hilton Honors program, a better business card might be the Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card, which also charges a $95 annual fee and earns flexible Chase Ultimate Rewards® points.
Points can be redeemed for travel through the Chase Ultimate Rewards® portal, in which case they’re worth 25% more – for example, 100,000 points are worth $1,250 toward travel.
Or you can transfer your points at a 1:1 value to the following partners:
The Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card also offers helpful travel and purchase benefits:
And the Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card offers free employee cards, too.

The Hilton Honors American Express Business Card offers generous rewards and helpful benefits for small businesses. If you and your employees frequent Hilton hotels when on the road, you may well get enough value from this card to make it worth the $95 annual fee.
But if you don’t want to be tied to Hilton-branded hotels, and you want to be sure if you transfer points that you’re getting a 1:1 value, the Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card is a better choice. The annual fee is also $95, and you have much more flexibility in how you use your rewards.
