Who is the Titanium Rewards Visa Signature® Credit Card best for?

The Titanium Rewards Visa Signature® Credit Card is available to members of Andrews Federal Credit Union and offers a very reasonable ongoing APR, making it a good choice for those who tend to revolve a balance from time to time.

However, the Titanium Rewards Visa Signature® Credit Card isn’t laden with a lot of fees and boasts some generous travel benefits, as well as a rewards program, making it a decent option for an everyday card.

What we like about the Titanium Rewards Visa Signature® Credit Card

  • Potentially low APR

If you tend to roll over a credit card balance from time to time, having a low interest card in your wallet — like the Titanium Rewards Visa Signature® Credit Card — can come in handy. The card offers an APR range of 9.49%-16.49% variable APR on purchases.

However, you’re not guaranteed to qualify for the lowest end of the APR range, as the issuer will have to review your credit score and reports to determine your APR after you apply.

  • No annual fee/foreign transaction fee

The Titanium Rewards Visa Signature® Credit Card comes with a $0 annual fee and a $0 foreign transaction fee.

  • Rewards program

The Titanium Rewards Visa Signature® Credit Card lets cardholders earn 3x points for gas and groceries, 1.5x points on all other purchases. Points can be redeemed for merchandise, cash, travel and more.

  • Travel benefits

It’s unusual for a low-APR and $0 annual fee card to offer valued travel benefits, but the Titanium Rewards Visa Signature® Credit Card includes rental car collision and lost luggage protections.

What to watch out for with the Titanium Rewards Visa Signature® Credit Card

  • Credit union membership required

In order to apply for the Titanium Rewards Visa Signature® Credit Card, you must first become a member of Andrews Federal Credit Union. Luckily, if you don’t meet any of the eligibility requirements, you can just join the American Consumer Council for as little as $8 — plus, if you enter the promo code “Andrews” on the ACC application, membership is free.

  • No 0% intro APR on balance transfers

If you’re looking for a lengthy 0% interest balance transfer card you can move high-interest debt to and pay down what you owe faster, know that the Titanium Rewards Visa Signature® Credit Card won’t the best choice.

The balance transfer offer that comes with the Titanium Rewards Visa Signature® Credit Card is an APR of 2.99% until January 2023 if transferred before March 2022. Any balance remaining after the intro APR offer expires will be subject to a 9.49%-16.49% variable APR. The balance transfer fee is reasonable, however: 2% or $10, whichever is greater.

Check out our list of the best balance transfer cards to see some better deals.

  • No intro APR for purchases

If you’re facing a big expense, like a car or household repair, you’d benefit from applying for a card offering a long 0% intro APR, which works much like an interest-free loan.

Unfortunately, the Titanium Rewards Visa Signature® Credit Card doesn’t offer an intro APR promotion on purchases.

See our list of cards with long intro APR offers, which can give you a break on interest charges for a year or more.

  • Low sign-up bonus

With the Titanium Rewards Visa Signature® Credit Card, cardholders earn 10,000 bonus points after spending $1,500 within the first 90 days.

When compared to what other credit cards are offering in terms of sign-up bonuses, you’ll see that the required spending is high for getting the Titanium Rewards Visa Signature® Credit Card  bonus.

  • Security deposit required for California residents

According to the terms and conditions of the Titanium Rewards Visa Signature® Credit Card, California residents who apply will be required to submit a security deposit that will serve as their credit line.

Alternate low-interest card

Compare it to the Lake Michigan Credit Union Prime Platinum

The Lake Michigan Credit Union Prime Platinum boasts one of the lowest APRs available (7.00% – 15.00% (variable)) and has a $0 annual fee.

The card is offered by the Lake Michigan Credit Union, and while some credit unions have strict membership requirements, you can join for a $5 donation to the ALS Foundation through its website. Otherwise, you’ll have to be a resident of Michigan’s lower peninsula or Florida, or have immediate family who are members.

The Lake Michigan Credit Union Prime Platinum is a plain-vanilla card that offers few benefits other than car rental insurance, and doesn’t come with a sign-up bonus or rewards program. However, its value is its ongoing low APR. The APR is variable, so it may rise as the prime rate goes up. But if you tend to carry a balance from time to time, then the Lake Michigan Credit Union Prime Platinum could be ideal — there is no intro APR offer on purchases or balance transfers. Still, you’ll need an excellent credit score in order to apply.

Is the Titanium Rewards Visa Signature® Credit Card right for you?

What makes the Titanium Rewards Visa Signature® Credit Card stand out is that for a $0 annual fee, you have the opportunity to qualify for a very low ongoing APR — this can come in handy when you need to carry a balance once in a while.

Plus, the rewards program offers an elevated rate for gas and grocery purchases, and then an unlimited standard rate for all other purchases.

However, be forewarned that if you’re a California resident, you’ll be required to submit a security deposit as collateral for the Titanium Rewards Visa Signature® Credit Card.

Plus, while the Titanium Rewards Visa Signature® Credit Card does offer a reduced APR on balance transfers for an extended period of time, it’s hardly competitive when compared to other popular balance transfer cards that offer 0% interest rates for a year or longer.
