    The process was very cold, customer service was lacking; to put it lightly. I had applied for an HELOC to make home improvements. I had uploaded all the documents needed and still could not reach the right people to answer questions. I had called several times to speak with my rep, and was told they would call me back. No, I needed to speak with someone then! I got an attitude from my rep who had said I only called once to find information, when I had called a half dozen times.     They called me right away, so I told them that I am looking for Home Equity Line of Credit. I was transferred to another person, so I told him that I am looking for HELOC, but he would not give me any information about HELOC, in stead he started hard selling me cash out mortgage refinancing. It was very disturbing, and I almost hung up on him. It was a very bad experience.... Read More

    The underwriting team definitely does not have their act together. We are going through the 4th extension because they can't review the documents fast enough (apparently the condo review team takes their time). They also has asked us to provide proof of income on certain funds at least 5 times (meaning that they got it 5 times too). When you ask them for status, the answer is usually: "I don't know, that is department x who is handling that". It is a total waste.... Read More

    Loan pre approval was easy. The loan originator was knowledgable, then I was transfered to a loan specialist and loan hub. The Specialist was, very unconcerned and did not seam to listen to my needs. Her response time was very slow to my emails and called messages and she never had a answer to my questions when we did correspond. LOAN HUB was horrible. It would freeze up and give me a response of "Oops, something went wrong". Try again later. This happened many times. Documents that were uploaded and received were then lost or deleted by the Loan Specialist and we're requested again by Loan Hub, but you would only know if YOU looked at your loan status in Loan Hub. No one would email, text or call. When I brought this to the Loan Specialist attention she said that she did not look at Loan Hub and did not know how it worked. Imagine That. In the end the loan was never closed, because the Appraiser, hired by Capital One, did not turn in the Appraisal in time for closing.     My experience with capital one has been absolutely horrible. I have tried to give them the benefit of the doubt. The only positive experience was the loan pre-approval process. It was all automated and very fast, but I think this might be what led to the worst experience I've had in getting a loan. Once you accept their terms, they give you access to loanhub for uploading all your documents and communicating with your loan team. I have excellent credit that is between 760-800 depending on which bureau report you pull. I am putting 20% down and have proof of income for a very secure position. The problems start when you have no one to talk to. They list a bunch of documents you need, you provide them, and you don't hear back on whether they are acceptable to underwriting. They continue to ask for the same documents over and over again until you are finally able to explain it to someone if you are lucky enough to get someone on the phone. I have called numerous times and have been on hold for 20 minutes each time or left a voicemail that is not returned. I've emailed questions and I don't get a response. If I do get a response it is usually another form or question they need answered with zero answers to my questions. I've asked repeatedly if we will still close on time and if there are any other issues I need to close out. Nothing. It is the worst. I thought I was saving money because of points and interest rate and now I wish I never used them. Unfortunately, I am too far along in the process and can't switch, although I still doubt the loan will ever close anyway. Please, unless you are saving a significant amount of money, do not use them. It's very surprising because I have always loved their credit card products and have been a customer for years.     Frustrating Loan Hub Experience

    I tried using this lender in late 2015. It was a terrible experience. We struggled through this from August to October. I was told that the paperwork process would be easy as Capital One Home Loans uses online technology (Loan Hub) to communicate with the customer. I was told I could upload all of our required documents via a secure site. We tried on three different occasions to upload our documents, but only some of them appeared on the website. We were told that some documents were missing, even after we received confirmation that the documents were received. The online process was not being updated by the company, so we did not know at times where we were in the refi process. The initial customer rep took my preliminary info and then I was sent to another rep who rarely answered my emails or answered with no suggestions to help us. When I told him that the site would not let us upload documents or failed to show that our documents were uploaded, he told me to contact customer service. When I called the number he provided, the customer rep did not know what I was talking about and said he was not familiar with the new Capital One Home Loans website. I truly never had a more frustrating experience and I do not like to write negative reviews, but I must state my frustration with this company. We were made to feel as though once they had our business (we were submitting all required documents) that we were nothing to them. Because this company seemed to lack customer service and someone who could take the time to explain why the electronic document process was so tedious, I had to withdrawal my request for a refi....
