    First time homeowner review

Dan helped us get through buying our first home. It was a smooth process and he was very accommodating in answering all our questions, even working late and meeting us late to ensure we meet our timelines. Dan & his team was a pleasure to work with. Thanks Dan!

    Yes! Dan is that good!

This review is actual tandem for both Dan and his beautiful wife Angela. What can I say...these two are the dynamic duo of the mortgage and finance and they helped me with not just one, but TWO home purchases. I would have to say the first home purchase was an "experience" to say the least. Anything and everything that could possibly come up to slow the process down happened - but quite honestly, Dan, Angela and team shielded me, coaxed me through, soothed my stressed self through the process. I guess you could say that they fought for me tooth and nail through it all, and in the end, I was able to purchase my first home. Fast forward almost two years later, when I was ready to make my second purchase, I cannot believe how much easier and smoother this process went. Again, they made it smooth sailing for me. I lost out on a home just a few days before the holidays; I went out, found another home the day after Christmas, and made an offer. The amazing part is, they kept the ball rolling as if it never even dropped, and picked up where we left off and was able to close in about 17 days (give or take). I don't know of any other team that would've worked through the holidays and weekends to make MY dream happen. They are truly going to work for you, and in the end, you will have gained not only a new home, but good people to call your friends.... Read More

Hats off to Finance of America !!

I am so impressed with Finance of America, especially our loan officer Tyler Howe from Princeton, NJ. From having previous bad experiences with MANY other banks and loan officers Tyler and Finance of America have exceptional ethics. Honest, responsive and very knowledgeable are a few words to describe them. If you want a stress free home buying process I suggest to work with them. They had met a two week deadline for us and had closed our deal within weeks of meeting. We are so grateful to have stumbled upon this company. Thanks for an amazing first time home buying experience!!... Read More

Great Deal If You Pay Attention to Details

    (0) (0)
BEST competitive rate and closing costs in the market for us, which was the highest priority for us. Not the most concierge service- to be expected with a no-frills economical service. But the folks we worked with did go the extra mile to ensure that we closed with the great deal that we expected from the initial quote. That superseded everything else. But for full disclosure: there were hassles related to lost paperwork a few times, poor communication about not finding an appraiser at the aggressive price quoted to us, fees snuck into the the paperwork that increased costs from the initial quote, and again efforts to bury the fees in a different way after I objected. But it's like anything in America these days: if you are alert, pay attention to the details, and politely and firmly stick to your guns on what is right, they come through in the end. In my case, the two folks who handled most of our paperwork stepped up and made the overall experience good in spite of the back-office designed to maximize profit (i.e. squeeze unexpected dollars out of you). To be fair, I expect this to be true of any large mortgage company. So in the end, they are a company trying to make money (nothing inherently wrong with that), and they did advertise and deliver the best deal in the market... Read More

Great Quote, Honored His Word to the End

I have have bought 3 houses and refinanced a handful of times since 1997. Ross Freeman and the loan processor Jonathan Terry were instrumental in helping me lock in my best deal ever, and his support during some rocky patches in the middle and end of the deal helped keep it all together. He gave me a great initial quote, and along the way we had problems with the cost of the appraisal and long delays, cost of title insurance, issues with extending the rate lock, and various other hiccups. I was extremely frustrated at points in the middle, and several times had to take a "leap of faith" that Ross would honor his word when I signed paperwork to keep things moving along. He ultimately honored his word and in the end we closed the deal that we signed up for, a great interest rate with very low cost (and nothing hidden/buried in the loan). People with integrity in the finance industry are becoming more and more rare, and I would be happy to refer people to Ross. More info on missing the closing date: there was a month delay with the appraiser because the cost quote was very low and hard to find a local person who would take it. Ross paid the difference of local appraiser rates vs the quote to honor our quote and finish the deal. The company tried to increase loan costs when the rate lock period was extended, and when I argued against a specific fee they tried to sneak it back in buried in a different way. With my attention to detail, Ross helped ensure that we got the original deal we signed up for... Read More

    Thank God to be done

When first purchasing my home, Finance of America took over three months to close. Reason being, they suck at communication. Each time we had our to do list completed, more items were added. Because closing took place in winter, FOA required funds to be put into escrow for repairs to be made in spring. Repairs were made promptly and in full according to contract, but surprise surprise, more items were added. I took issue up with branch manager who didn't care to help and outright refused to give me the name of his supervisor. I then looked up upper management and went through a Vice President. But still was not returned my funds. I finally received the money back 8 months after the initial repairs as listed in the contract were completed, and over two months after refinancing with a different company. I have never experienced so much stress in any home purchase as I did with FOA. I advise anyone looking for a mortgage to look elsewhere. ... Read More

BEST EVER!!! PLEASE READ THIS REVIEW!!!

I wish there were 6 stars I could give to Guy! OMG! Please listen closely--I will be brief: If you are buying or refinancing a home, and you want a low rate, with an honest no hassle type person, who knows his stuff, does not play games, and works lightening fast around the clock and weekends you MUST call Guy Keith. I have bought/sold/refinanced many homes--nobody has come close to the level of service and integrity as Guy. My story: I signed docs to refi my home with A DIFFERENT lender at a very low, locked in rate. 93 days later (yup...93 freakin days) we had not closed (not my fault) and the lender said that my low rate had expired and bumped it 1/2 point. From the referral of a friend, I called Guy. He beat their rate, waived some fees, pulled 100K cash in equity from my home and closed in......23 days! (Start to finsh--no joke) Trust me--you cannot beat this "Guy". Thank you sooooo much Guy... Read More

    Best loan experience!

This is my second time going to Dan and I love the level of service he provides. I went to my credit union asking if it would be feasible to add my car loan to the refinance and the loan officer asked if I had someone in mind for the refinance. When he asked who I was going through and the rate they provided me, I replied, "Dan Florence and here's the breakdown of what was offered" (by the way the breakdown provided is to the penny and itemizes each cost). The loan officer said, "I know Dan and this is probably bad for my business, but he's a great guy and you won't get a better rate". If that's not a testimony to the type of person Dan is and the type of business he runs, I don't know what is! Also, if you have the pleasure of speaking to Angela Florence, she offers identical service. What a great team!!!... Read More

Purchasing a home can be very scary and overwhelming. Dan and his team are wonderful, they made the entire process so painless and easy. A whole lot easier than buying a car. They are truly here to guide, motivate and hold your hand through the entire process. I'll continue to recommend them to everyone I know.
