    Good experience here!

Take the negative reviews with a grain of salt. I had an excellent experience with Lightstream. At 7pm I started the loan process and was getting a request for documentation (a pay stub, that was it) within 20 minutes. By 9am the next morning I received a call that they were working on it, answered a couple of questions and had an approval within an hour. I have excellent credit, but not perfect, and I was offered the lowest advertised rate...which was significantly lower than anything else I saw... Read More

    Loan impossible

You will be wasting your time with them. They say loan uncomplicated but actually its complicated. First time I applied they said they can't verify our income. Really, they couldn't even verify our income from our paystubs. I told them I have rental income & provided them leases which didn't satisfy them. I talked to them and they advised me to re-apply. They should have called me to ask questions to verify info but they didn't. Reapplied, they asked so many questions. My wife was teaching the class but I asked her to call them as they insisted to talk to her. They talked to her specifically for 15-20 mins. We answered all questions. They lady seem satisfied but still they denied us the loan. We were approved for 4% by the dealer but were shopping for better rate. I have never been denied any loan but they denied me too. I have 820 credit and six figure income. Pls. don't waste time with them... Read More

    Stay anyway from sparkling pre-offer

    (1) (0)
I applied through lending tree and was pre-approved. Went though the approval process with LightStream and denied. Was just approved for mortgage refinance through Lending Tree recently and have a good score according to lending tree but now I have an inquiry and no auto loan...why even pre-offer if they just deny. Awful!

We apologize for any confusion surrounding our process. When an application is forwarded to us by LendingTree, we do not guarantee approval as the application must be reviewed by our credit department. If you have not yet reviewed your decline notice, please sign into your account as the notice will detail the reasons as to why we were unable to move forward with a loan. If after reviewing your notice you have any additional questions, please feel free to reach out to us directly.

    Fantastic experience

A fantastic experience. Quick online application, email within 30 minutes asking for a copy of recent pay stub and copy of drivers licence. Scanned and uploaded them, email within another 30 minutes that loan was approved at a great rate for a used vehicle we wanted to buy as a gift for our son. Funds transferred to bank account first thin me t morning as it was late in the day when I applied. Couldn't be easier. Started process at 7 PM and approve by 8 PM. Wow. Grea... Read More

Had a good experience after they figured out that I made an error on the application. Approved within an hour once rectified. Finance balance on a new car purchase.

    Best rate and experience

I am one of those people that rarely write reviews but couldn't do this after my great experience. I applied in the evening on a Monday and was advised that I would hear the next business day once underwriting was in the office. I would say by 9 am the next morning I had my approval for a used unsecured auto loan for 1.74%!!! That is an amazing rate and I know being an underwriter for consumer loans myself! The process was simple and I had my money by Wednesday morning with no extra fees. I couldn't even get as good of a rate or customer service from the bank I work at (and underwriters who sit right next to me) if I had tried. For information purposes I had no car loans at the time, small credit card balances (always paid in full but balance always showing as constantly using) 750-780 credit score, two first mortgage loans, 1 home equity term loan. Guessing that debt to income was around 40% as I am not sure what credit card payments showed. About 20k liquid assets and 50k in 401k assets, 32 years of age... Read More

Quick and fast service. Bad loan approval.

Applied for a line of credit for home improvement. My first time through, I was counter offered a little less amount with a higher rate but still acceptable amount. Filled out the additional information only to get denied. I called the company and they claimed it was because I was claiming supplemental income through renting my unit out for a year, and explained that I had to use only the months between then and when my tax return was filed. No problem I figure, I'll just go back into my account and make that change. Only problem was, I couldn't get to that screen on my account. Customer service rep explains I need to create an entirely new account, fill out all the information and reapply. I go ahead and do all of the process again, only to get denied yet again. This time around, it's because, according to them, I was delinquent on credit card payments. Keep in mind, I had a credit score of 771 and out of 660 credit card payments, I missed two years ago. Really? That's .003% of bad payment history. Oh well. At least they denied me fast. (By the way, the zip code input is broken, and would not accept any zip code in Florida. I'm in 33414)... Almost too good to be true

    (0) (0)
Now granted, I have excellent credit (800+) and the amount wasn't a crazy amount, but from the time I clicked submit on my application and uploaded the required paycheck/pay sheet documentation, my approval was approved in about 2.5 hours. Then I decided to change the original terms (from 48m/$40K to 60m/$35K) and that took a bit less. You pick they payment date you want to start the AutoPay deduction and that's it. Cash wired to your account next business day - which means you have an added bonus of the registration starting off "clean" with no lien having to be registered. It could not be any easier. Even if I wanted to find something that I didn't like about it - I can't honestly say that I can. I didn't see a phone number to call anyone, but they were very responsive when I sent in an e-mail asking how long it would take to make a determination on the new terms (I sent the e-mail at the 1:50 hour mark, and got a response 2 minutes later that it was already approved). Very impressive. I even pointed some friends their way who were looking for similar financing options. All that leaves now is waiting to see how the whole AutoPay process works and hopes that goes without issues. The only thing that might explain some of these terrible reviews is that Lightstream offers $100 if not completely satisfied. Thus far, I will not be able to take them up on their offer... Read More

    Amazing then bad customer service!

My husband and I initially applied for a $100,000 loan and it was a great experience. Application process was easy, the associates were pleasant that we spoke to and the money was funded within a few days. Since our initial experience was so easy, when we needed another loan for $35,000 we applied with Lightstream again. The application process was very easy, they actually had most of our information from the first loan already stored. The problem came when we were asked to call back to answer some questions. The associate asked why we were applying again and why we didn't just take out a HELOC since we had so much equity in our home. She said the rates would be better. Our credit scores are 820+ so rates would have been comparable with out all the fees the bank would have charged. I explained to her that the process was so simple the first time we didn't want to hassle with all the paperwork associated with a bank loan. Isn't that part of Lightstreams whole advertisment that it's so simple! Ultimately I thought she was very rude! She made me feel inferior that we were even asking for this loan. First loan was amazing, second loan we will go elsewhere because of a very rude associate... Read More
