    Best VA lender out there

    Yes, I recommend this lender

With only five weeks to close a deal, NBKC and Travis Smith made it happen with room to spare on a VA loan. Best rates out there.

    Great bank to work with!

    Yes, I recommend this lender

National Bank of Kansas is the employer of my favorite lending professional Mr. Dan Steinbrink. If, for no other reason, than the fact that they hired Dan, I would know they are a great bank. But I can also say, after 4 financial experiences with them, I can say they are my home mortgage bank from now on.

    Would Not Recommend David Hanna...

I applied for a loan with David Hanna on February 26, 2015, and he never followed up on my application. I received a computer generated response so I know he received it. I sent an e-mail to his e-mail, which was listed on the confirmation asking for a status update, and he still didn't follow-up. I do not recommend David Hanna, or this lender.

    Small town customer service

    Yes, I recommend this lender

I felt pressured by my agent's "preferred lender" and was pleased when I spoke with Travis Smith. He was able to offer me a rate .5 lower with lender credit and superb customer service. My agent repeatedly said how impressed she was by his attentiveness and knowledge despite her wariness to use a national bank. My insurance company said he was he first lender to know details about the case and handle the questions personally. As first time home buyers we appreciated his patience and attentiveness to all of our questions and concerns. Working with Travis made the entire home buying process less daunting as he explained things in plain English and gave us advice on "the next step" to keep us on time for a tight closing deadline. I would highly recommend using this lender

    Worth your time...

    Yes, I recommend this lender

Nat'l Bank of Kansas City was easy & pleasant to work with. However Mr. Tim Lander (of NBoKC) was absolutely OUTSTANDING! My husband and I were first time home buyers with no experience in the housing/mortgage market; with plenty of questions. Mr. Lander was respectful and knowledgable...more importantly willing to share that knowledge in an honest & attentive manner. The process itself is seamless (with all of your documents in order) as they are willing to work with 'snail-mail', e-mail, fax & even electronically signed documents. I cannot praise Mr. Lander enough...and would HIGHLY recommend contacting him for all of your mortgage needs.

Trust really does take seconds to break

I am in the process of preparing to shop for a mortgage for my first home. I read great reviews on National Bank of Kansas City, so I sent an email to request information. Todd Bukaty called promptly and discussed my situation with me, prior to sending me a good faith estimate. He claimed that a pre-QUALIFICATION was not necessary as I had already been pre-qualified from other banks. A few weeks later, he followed up with me and I told him that I wanted to be pre-qualified (not pre-approved) by NBOKC, if possible. He sent me to a link in his signature and I carefully began to complete the form. Now, my understanding of a pre-qualification, is there is no legal document, legal binding or legal intention to do business with the lender, and as such, there is no legal need to perform a HARD credit inquiry. Since I am PREPARING to shop and not actually shopping, I did not want my credit pulled yet. Generally, I try to limit the hard pulls on my credit as each HARD pull lowers your score, as most people know. Todd, does not, however. I didn't see any statement from NBOKC to perform a credit check as I wasn't trying to apply for a loan with them, only trying to determine if I would qualify IF I opted to apply for a loan. When I asked Todd to confirm that NBOKC does NOT perform a hard credit pull things changed for the worse. Once a mellow and seemingly considerate guy, Todd became blatantly rude and almost personally offended that I would ask such a question. He wrote, in email, things like, "You aren't looking to buy a used car here..." and things that aren't accurate such as, "...to get prequalified it's a very invasive because you are asking the lending institution to put down on a legal document that you are approved.." I kindly replied, again, that I was NOT trying to get approved for a loan, that I was only trying to get prequalified, to which Todd informed me that he was not going to argue with me and that he has been doing this for "over twelve years." He also went on to say, incorrectly might I add, "... you can have up to three inquires PER month without it even effecting your credit." First, it's AFFECTING, Todd, not effecting, and second, you're wrong. More than 2 HARD credit inquires ever 24 MONTHS will lower your credit score; albeit, there might be a low impact, but the impact is still present. I think Todd was getting confused with the differences between a HARD pull and a SOFT pull, which for someone with 12 years of experience with 3 different banking institutions, is inexcusable. He ended his retort email to me stating that they would purge my file so we never even moved past the pre-qualification process, nor would I have wanted to all things considering.

    NBOKC mortgage department

    Yes, I recommend this lender

Our experience with NBOKC with Shane Cuevas as our loan officer was smooth and pleasant. Shane is polite, professional, highly competent yet maintains an easy, friendly attitude. He was always ready to answer any questions and provide assistance, and maintained contact with us through our 5 month search and final acquisition of our dream home. Our recent mortgage loan went exceptionally smooth. He has earned our highest praise and recommendation, he is an exceptional person and an outstanding representation of his National Bank of Kansas City.

    Yes, I recommend this lender

when I first saw this bank online I thought it was fake because I don't really trust these online sites. I called the number and spoke to Travis Smith, a loan officer and he was exactly the guy I've been looking for. I had two houses prior in NYC, one is FHA and the other one CONVENTIONAL. a lot of loan officers were telling it would be impossible to get another FHA loan in Philadelphia even I relocated but TRAVIS SMITH made it all possible. the guy is very knowledge, and a helpful individual. He replies to each and every of my messages and answers all my questions. He made everything smooth and simple by giving me a low rate. Travis Smith is the right guy to work with, so I would HIGHLY recommend this bank to anyone including first time home buyers.
