Lender ReviewJulie from Garland, TX Confirmed LendingTree Customer
Consistency is key - but not for them.I spoke to the sales manager initially who seemed nice and informative. He gave me the rate and closing costs over the phone and followed up via email with the numbers. I had 2 other lenders I was working with and University had the best rate and costs so I e-signed their application. However, I noticed the closing costs had changed on the application, it was slightly lower and with everything rolled in, I wouldn’t need to pay anything at closing (other than the $435 for appraisal). I asked the loan officer if my amount is actually less now according to the application prior to signing. He said yes and that seemed great! However, it was all downhill from there. I e-signed and sent him an email that I had signed and the next day he emailed me asking if I signed it. Yes – I even emailed him telling him! Anyway, on the client portal, they list items needed for processing so I uploaded everything the same day. Soon I got an email requesting the exact same documents again as if no one had checked the portal. Minor annoyances. But I got the actual loan estimate now and my closing costs had increased about $1700 and my prepaids/escrows also increased significantly as well putting my total cash at closing at a little over $4000 with the same loan amount. You would think someone would have disclosed the changes to me beforehand rather than surprising me but I questioned the sales manager who said it must have been a mistake and a new one would be sent the next day. Nothing, when I emailed the end of the next day, he said it takes 24 hours for a new one to be issued. Well the day after that, he came back and said that they have to list the highest fees possible but assured me that is not what I’d be charged. I didn’t sign it and he said I didn’t have to if I wasn’t comfortable but originations then asked me to sign it and said that my cash at closing was $2797. Seriously? No updated documents or explanation of the changes and a different number again? I had it and we went back and forth until the sales manager stepped back in and broke out the charges line by line and the differences between what I was quoted and the loan estimate, only neither of the numbers he gave me matched to what I was actually quoted prior to the application or on the application. I quit. My job is to make numbers tick and tie and I can’t put my faith into a company who gives me different numbers every time I talk to them. I continued with my application two other lenders once I started seeing red flags and surprise! The amount I was quoted was not only on the application, penny for penny, but also on the loan estimate! ... Read More
