    In my dealings with Nick has been entirely honest, and forthcoming in every aspect of the transaction. He went out of his way to help me shop around and was never hesitant to discuss offers from competing institutions. I cannot say the same about some of his competitors. I always felt like he was on MY team. If you are considering a loan broker you can do no better.

    Nick Weeks is Outstanding

    I recently inquired online about mortgages for our permanent residence and 3 rental properties in two different states to determine if it was worthwhile to refinance. I was immediately deluged with emails and phone calls. I chose to avoid them because almost every one of the calls was from a 'mortgage mill' call center, from people chasing down leads--it was insulting, annoying and invasive--and it lasted for weeks. There was one, and only one call that stood out from the rest. It was from Nick Weeks who did an outstanding job of connecting, listening and then promising to follow-through. And he did. If you want a broker who is intellectually savvy, financially astute and employs good old fashioned mid-west values - Nick Weeks is the guy. He was able to not only find extremely competitive rates but to counsel us about the benefits and risks associated with different programs.     Great Mortgage Lender to work with

    I had just 14 days (August 14th) to get from initial loan discussion to close, due to Roundpoint’s incompetence. After contacting Lending Tree website about the loan I was seeking (15 year fixed), credit (excellent), loan type (VA), and down payment (5%), a number of lenders reached out. One was a mortgage lender at Oak Star Bank; Nick Weeks. After explaining the loan parameters I was seeking and the time constraints present, Nick assured me they could close within my required timeframe. Oak Star Bank executed, closing in 12 days from initial loan discussion to close (including 4 weekend days). With Roundpoint, I had been pursued a VA loan, though was reconsidering pursuing a conventional mortgage given my 14 day time constraint. In discussion with several mortgage lenders for a conventional loan (both local to where we were moving; Northwest Arkansas and a prior mortgage lender I had worked with), it became apparent the largest obstacle to closing in 14 days was getting a completed appraisal within my timeframe. I decided that I would need to continue to pursue a VA loan given I had an appraisal in hand that could be used versus having one redone under a conventional loan scenario. Nick was very knowledgeable regarding the VA loan process and procedures. Nick specifically won me over in several ways. First, I had discussed with Nick the issue that caused Roundpoint so much trouble; a paystub for my wife in Northwest Arkansas. My wife was starting her new position on August 11th. Though my wife had a contract to work, there was no way she could produce a paystub before the end of August. Nick had the requisite very specific knowledge of the VA loan procedures and explained though a paystub for my wife is a requirement of the VA, the fully executed employment contract serves as a base verification of employment for the VA to close, with my wife agreeing at close to provide a paystub. Second was his knowledge of VA procedures, and his ability to easily transfer all VA documentation on my loan application from Roundpoint to Oak Star Bank, most importantly the already completed VA appraisal. Third, (during the loan application process) Nick was the critical link to ‘tell our story’ to the internal people (loan processors and underwriters) who do the heavy lifting of making sure everything is documented and done within their guidelines. Nick was great in this regard, by communicating effectively regarding issues identified within the process, documentation needed to explain/mitigate the issue and most importantly identifying the how important a given issue was in regards to closing. Another critical aspect of communication is timeliness. I spoke with Nick every business day of the loan process to get an update on the status of the bank’s internal process, answer questions to Nick on information submitted, clarify documentation requests, etc. In addition, Nick was very good in communicating succinctly via email. Nick was also good in communicating with external organization regarding the closing process including home owners insurance (mortgage payee) and the title company. In particular, the discussions between the Title Company and Nick went smoothly and were able to go from final internal approval at OakStar to my wife and me signing documents at the title company within four hours. I would highly recommend Nick Weeks as a mortgage lender to others based upon his superior communication skills. In addition, his experience with the VA loan process and underwriting guidelines and translating that to me as borrower to what can and cannot be done by setting appropriate expectations. Lastly, Nick has the personal experience to empathize and understand the real world impact the role of a mortgage lender to a family.     Nick Weeks - Oak Star Bank

    Nick Weeks at Oak Star Bank was quite possibly the most personable, friendly, professional, and efficient business person I have ever dealt with. He was able to navigate incorrect documents from the previous lender, slow turnaround from the US Government (VA Bureau) and bizarre working schedules of my husband and I (teacher and police sergeant on a midnight shift) and was able to help us close our loan in under 40 days. Because of his extra effort, we are saving several thousand dollars a month, and will be able to retire earlier.
