I would definitely recommend getting pre-approved with a lender before going after a real estate agent. Remember this, your budget will often dictate your location. Different agents have different specialties, especially in regards to locations of expertise/connections. If you understand your budget first, you will better understand which location you will be looking in which will help you better select a good agent for that area.
I always recommend choosing a lender first so that you can gain an approval for financing of your new home. Although you can choose either the realtor or the lender first I have found this to save time and energy. Plus the lender should be able to recommend a top notch realtor in the area you are interested in purchasing. Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any other questions or are interested in gaining an approval.
You will need a lender first so that you know what price range you can shop in and what loan amount you qualify for.

I have a home I am trying to sell presently in Forest City, Iowa.
I have a new job becoming available in mid June 2017 in Soccoro NM
Is there a way to get preapproved for a loan amount in my present circumstances.
I have identified a piece of property, and would go with a modular prefab home. How do these two things get put into a single loan?

How long do they take to call you?
Because I've been trying to contact the lender for a week and I've left messages and they have not called me back
