Fraudulent Broker Service
Last week, I submitted a request to refinance my auto-loan. I immediately received a pre-approval for what seemed to be an unbelievably low rate for a refi, given the current market conditions. I clicked through to their website, where I was asked to provide additional documentation for a firm pre-approval. When I submitted the documentation, I received a notice from my credit monitoring agency that a firm inquiry had posted to my report, confirming other reviews detailing a similar experience. Given the low rate, I decided to proceed, despite what I saw as a deceptive, at best, business practice (i.e. language about a credit pull was probably somewhere in their fine print). I quickly received a firm approval (email with subject line "Your loan is approved!" with an opening sentence "Hi [my name]! Great news--the lender has approved your loan application!" The email included a hyperlink entitled "Access Your Approval." I linked through, and was required additional sensitive information. Hours later, I received a phone call from a "Senior Loan Consultant." He indicated that their system was in error, and this is why he made a phone call. He informed me that, due to the errors in their automated system, all loan applications must verified by "consultants" (sales hustlers). He then, very predictably, indicated that the offer I received was incorrect, but Ally, the company that owns clearlane, could offer me a loan at a higher rate (surprise, surprise). I have never had a service experience so negative that I was compelled to write a review. In fact, the experience was so negative, bordering on illegal, that I have contacted the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau to file a complaint and I am disputing the credit inquiry through the credit bureaus. I strongly recommend that you stay away from this fraudulent brokerage service.

Bait and switch
Told me I was pre approved at 3.99% and then it changed to 4.75% . When I complained they said “well we can get it down to 4.25% if you auto pay” with no hesitation. Then I was told I have to send in the past 2 years of tax returns . Overall waste of time .

You'd have to pay fee on top if your car payment
What they won't tell you if you can only make payment through western union $4 on the phone or $10 if you go to a western union branch and it takes day for them to receive that. Unless if you sign up for auto pay way ahead of time. No thanks! I like to put money on my car loan whenever I have extra money and I want to convenience to do that
Thank you for sharing this with us, Anas! We've passed your feedback on to the team. ^SK

Too many steps, too much time and effort, just plain horrible.......
So my complaint is a little different than most here. My loan funded. No complaints about that. No complaints about the rate but now in hindsight I wished I paid 1/10% more and went with a local bank (more on that later). One thing everyone here needs to know is that you are passed on to several employees at Clearlane as you move through the process and then you are moved on to a bank that Clearlane works with. If 1 or more in this group don't do what they are supposed to do and/or complete in a timely fashion, then this will negatively impact you and completely ruin the experience - as in my case. No one told me on what to expect in the process, timeline expectations, etc. That would have helped a lot. I have only learned of this as I went along. After you apply, you are first given a loan consultant. That involves some paperwork and questions, but nothing out of the ordinary. Once you are approved you are then moved to a funder. You are still at clearlane Then after your loan funds, the payment is made by the bank (who clearlane refers you to) to the lien holder (to whoever you owe on your original loan) and then you may need to get new plates, registration etc with your state motor vehicle. That it is how it is supposed to work. While there was urgency to get things submitted with the loan consultant, things grinded to a slow go thereafter. I had a loan payment to make on my original loan looming and had to make it because my loan was not yet funded. There was time, in my opinion to get this done, but because my loan didn't fund in time, I had to make that payment. And then once my loan funded, no one told me that the bank made the payoff payment to the lien holder. Who was supposed to tell me, Clearlane or the bank? I had to find that out on my own by calling (more on that later). that was almost 2 months ago and today I am still without motor vehicle registration and plates. So I am obligated to pay the bank now for a car that I still don't have my registration and plates. Shouldn't someone at the bank or Clearlane be expecting a title from the lien holder as soon as a loan funds so the state motor vehicle/title process can be started as soon as possible? And what happens if no one at Clearlane or the bank gets the title to start the process? What is easier - having a system in place to double check this or having an angry customer call repeatedly?? Why should a customer have to call repeatedly only to get people who may or may not respond, who may or may not care? I was not even aware Clearlane had a title dept until l had no registration or plates and finally got to someone. When I called about my problem and the customer service rep reached out to the Clearlane funder, the funder's response to the rep was "we have met our obligation to MR x." I can't make this up. No clearlane you didn't meet your obligation as I still have NO plates or registration. Finally I get to the title dept and now I am dealing with several people there and some don’t seem to want to respond or care about how long this has dragged out. I was just told that I am not going to have plates or registration for another month. By the time I get those (and hopefully that will occur), I will have made 3 payments to bank on my new loan. Yes 3 payments in and maybe I will have plates and registration. Bottom line, too many steps at clearlane, too little info on the process and expectations is provided, too many employees who don't care. Save yourself the hassle, go to your local bank. If you are not happy, you can walk in and ask for a manager. No one is going to turn you way. But I can't go to CA each time I have a problem with clearlane. I can call - which I did many of times, but how far has that gotten me??? Clearlane fooled me once, but never again!!!

Katrina Fisher was so rude to us that we decided not to move forward. We're so glad that she had such a nasty attitude as it gave us the opportunity to investigate this company & see all the negative reviews! Thank you Katrina!

Poor customer service at first phone call
I applied online and was matched through lending tree. I got an email from Clearlane saying approved with an id number. Called them and they wanted to verify the information I had entered. The problem was the information they had was outdated-by like 5 years. I don't understand how that could be when I applied two days earlier with current information. The customer service rep was not knowledgeable at all, seemed like she was brand new. She could not tell me why they were displaying old information. I basically was applying all over again. No thanks, I had 6 other companies I received offers from, so I moved on. I was not comfortable with this call at all or the service they were providing/lack thereof over the phone.

Worst, waste of time, no results
1. They don't know what they are doing 2. Supervisors are layman 3. They promise all sort of things and let you down My scenario was simple: I needed a finance for my lease buyout and they did a joke out of it. Asked for all sort of things and i furnished them and they promised it will be done in a 4-5 days. Later they asked me to get the payout package twice from Honda and that wasted 2 weeks there and finally came back and said extend your lease for 30 more days as we think by the time your approval of loan takes, you package would expire. Tari was my point of contact and what can i say? All they asked me to do is have Texas temporary license as i was from Illinois, i did that in one day taking leave from my office and later they said, no we need to wait for the actual license to come and that too after 2 weeks of applying my temp license, are you kidding? By the time my car sticker was due to renewal in 30 days, they are concerned that my sticker needs to be renewed immediately, and i did that, they were still not satisfied, are you really crazy? What are you concerned about? Me paying dues or sticker? What if i don't pay even i have all documents? My credit scores are good and i just went to them to save 0.10% and this what i get. Bottom line - They process is time killing and there is no end results. They don't know what they are doing. Save your time and reach out somewhere else

Very bad, be carefull.
Learn from others mistakes. ( I did not )
Do not waist your time with these people. you will ending giving up all your personal information and have nothing approved regardless they will always tell you everything is ok. you will get ripoff with your personal data, bank accounts information and time. They knew that my only (one) credit problem since the first time, regardless they continue until get all my personal info at the end they tell me that because of that, but not before they squeezed all info.
I will move forward to a more formal complaint.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY
After countless emails, phone calls, conversations, etc. with no less than five different company representatives, the refinancing offer for which I was "pre-approved" never materialized. I provided excessive personal information, more than I was required when purchasing a beach house less than a year ago. Extremely poor communication. Some correspondence references Ally, some Clearlane, some another company name. After being sold on a vehicle extended warranty, which was to be added to the payoff amount of my loan (naturally), the interest rate was moved several times as well throughout the process. You are told one thing, then another person takes over, no one returns phone calls or emails. Then, after practically selling my firstborn, I received a letter in the mail with some BS excuse not to fund the loan! This is a scam! Beware! There are many legitimate financing options out there and this is not one of them. A complete and frustrating waste of time. I plan to contact the applicable state regulatory agency as well to file a formal complaint about this shady company and their deceptive trade practices.
