Better the first time...
This was the 2nd time I purchased a vehicle from Carvana. The first time was awesome. Everything, from picking a vehicle to delivery, couldn't have been better. This time however was different. I had scheduled a drop-off like the first time, but at the appointed time they were a no-show. Upon looking at my paperwork I noticed no phone numbers were provided, so I Googled it. Came up with a number, reached a very nice man who put me through to the hub my delivery was coming from. This person too was very friendly and apologetic. He stated "they had some problem with the delivery truck so would be late. He would leave the hub shortly". He arrived 2 hours later. Now whether their truck really broke or they simply forgot about me I don't know, but here's the thing - call me, and let me know, don't make me call you. End of the story is that the car is great (again), and I wouldn't hesitate to buy another vehicle from, or recommend others to buy from, Carvana.

The Carvana website is top notch for their field. Easy search engine with nice flow to vehicle selection. The online chat bot works really good. Kudos to the software engineering team. Pictures of vehicle leave you to think the car is in better shape than it is. Small dents and dings are omitted as well as poorly repaired interior and exterior elements as long as they are under the inch measurements rental car businesses use. Loan pre-approval and paperwork were a breeze. Checkout can be quite confusing and stressful if done on a Friday afternoon. You have 24 hours to get it right and the clock is ticking. Getting my insurance info properly to Carvana was difficult. I felt like I was chasing a moving target the first few times as only after I submitted documentation did I receive the rules as to why it couldn't be accepted. If you need your insurance broker to get things done properly make sure they'll be open on the weekend. I had to insure the vehicle immediately in order to pass Carvana's rules for the checkout. I didn't take ownership over a week later. If the car were damaged in transit my insurance was on the hook. This won't be everyone's experience but even insuring the three days prior to delivery can still be problematic.
Car inspection and preparation has a lot of room for improvement. The car may have been in an accident but if it is not on the C.F. report Carvana doesn't look for one, even if there are telltale signs upon visual inspection, nonuniform paint, uneven gap spacing, panels not secured, etc. When purchasing cars at auction, this should be something the buying agent should be looking for. Cleaning of the car is peripheral at best. My car had coffee stains in the creases and every part of the center console and driver door. They screamed out against the cream colored interior. There was a large chocolate fingerprint left on the top right rear of the driver's seat. Four air freshener pads were under the two front seats making you think that they were trying to cover up some foul odor. I was able to do a proper detailing of the car and removed all of the stains with soap and water and a little effort. I aired out the car and there were no offensive smells.
I took my car to a mechanic to get it looked over. I did have to have the wiper blades replaced (this should have been done in Carvana's shop as per NYS DMV requirements) and an oil change, which was expected. Mechanically the car is fine.
I also took the car to an auto-body shop to look at the slightly noticeable body repairs. They found the spraying of the rear driver's side door and rear tailgate to be done fairly well. The body damage to the right rear panel and tailgate were deemed superficial and not to be terribly concerning as the frame was untouched and there were no leaks around the doors and tailgate.
Everyone at Carvana was really wonderful and a pleasure to deal with. It looks like Carvana is a decent company to work for. I would probably recommend them to others but would come with some caveats for things to look out for and be better prepared to handle.

I did enjoy the buying experience but....
I really enjoyed how easy it was to buy a car through carvana compared to dealership buying however, I did notice that the “150 point inspection” missed the cabin air filter, ever since we picked it up I smelled a foul odor coming from the vents, so I pulled the glovebox out and out came what was left of the cabin air filter it was so crammed full of leaves, dirt, and god knows what else. I took pictures, it was awful. I wish there was a way to post it. Also the wipers left terrible streaks across the windshield. Luckily both of those items are cheaply replaced. Overall it was nice and quick buying experience but if I were them I wouldn’t promote the “150 point inspection” if they miss the simplest of things what is to stop them from missing something a lot more serious.
