Amazing experience!

This was the least stressful experience I have ever had related to a purchase/refinance. I can honestly say it was almost fun!

They're too busy right now for a good experience

We've had a horrible experience with Better. The process started easily enough with tons of regular contact — but when it's come to closing, they've stood us up twice with no communication. After the second missed closing, they've ghosted us. My husband has emailed our contacts with no response, called customer service requesting a callback on more than one occasion which we never received. Our lock rate ends this Friday and at this rate, we're not holding our breath we'll close in time.
With so many positive reviews, I imagine they're a dream under normal circumstances — and I understand a lot of people are refinancing right now. But I also think common sense should tell them not to take on more accounts than they can handle. It's certainly not doing them or their customers any favors. So, if you're wanting to refinance right now, look somewhere else that has positive reviews around this time frame. Trust me, Better is booked right now.

Not Covid friendly and other issues

I have a heightened risk of COVID but had to have an in home inspection and a in person closing. For my last refinance in 2015, the closing was done electronically. They also charge $50 for e-signing, which is really high since the last company didn't charge anything. Finally, their title fees are very high at $1,025. Also, if you plan to shop for your own services, keep in mind that you inform the staff early or else it will delay the loan and there are no disclosures regarding that. Finally, they require an escrow account even if you send them records showing everything has already been paid or the points you pay go up.
