It felt like dealing with a used car salesman

The loan officer (initials BS, go figure) was less than candid about my fees. 2-3 days BEFORE closing he slipped in a points fee of $1,485 to lower my interest rate 0.609%. When I asked him about this he said 'How long are you going to be living in your home?' This fee was NEVER discussed nor listed on any closing disclosures during the entire process.
About a month AFTER closing I get a Home Owner's cancellation notice in the mail. The loan officer had listed the 12month premium in a Paid Before Closing column. For someone that doesn't buy/close houses everyday (ME) I had no idea (ZERO) that I had to pay this out of pocket and that it was not going to be collected at closing at the attorney's office. So now I have to come up with $1,549 out of pocket.

First Commonwealth Mortgage

I chose First Commonwealth Mortgage becasue Quicken Loans listed them as a VA leander. My borker didn't know the in's and out's of using VA, had to do part of his job for him. I had to submit a request for my tax returns 4 times, finally on the 4th time I noticed from the lender they had my wrong address, and I have no idea where they go the address, since I had to fill out and sign the form. I didn't have an issue going through VA, but my broker slowed down the process, and wouldn't call me, but only e mail me. I will not recommend them, and will not use again.

Awful Final Lender

While the First Commonwealth Mortgage team was responsive to our much needed requests for status and updates, the lender that they identified to deliver our mortgage left a lot to be desired. The lender introduced new and unexplained twists and turns on a daily basis as we got down to the wire. The timing of their antics could not have been worse, as the stress at the end of the process is already bad enough. We nearly left First Commonwealth all together to pursue another option due to the lender. The lender drove our poor scores as they were outside of their control.
