Second time, First time buyer
My experience in the past wasn't so good, i didnt have anone to talk me through this process helping me understand the steps and what to look for i could call and ask any question the i came across i got some good advice which mad the whole process that much smoother . i would highly recommend any 1st time buyer to start here.

I worked with Sr. Mortgage Loan Officer Joe Wilson and Herring Bank to refinance my mortgage for a lower rate. I also had a timing issue and need to do the refinance fairly quickly.
Joe is very knowledgeable, professional, courteous and customer service oriented. He worked tirelessly to make certain that my closing was done in a timely manner.
The amount of paper work and documentation that it takes these days to close a loan can be anguishing - but Joe stayed in constant contact, keeping me updated and making sure all required documentation was available in a timely manner.
I have no hesitation in recommending Herring Bank for your mortgage loan needs. OUTSTANDING JOB !!

Selfless assistance
Over the past month I have had the wonderful opportunity of working with Herring Bank and one of their loan officers; James Hanson. I wanted to take a moment and tell our story and the impact that James has had on my family.
My family is preparing for a military transfer to the Dayton OH area and as such we were in the market to purchase a new home. As I shopped around for some different mortgage lenders to consider, I was contacted by James. In the end we decided to go with a local lender in Dayton that was suggested by our friends and who was a preferred lender for our agents real estate agency (they offered a .5% credit off their commission at closing). It is a long story as to why we decided this route; a decision we now regret, but throughout the entire negotiation, James was extremely courteous and helpful.
From the beginning of our interaction, James has shown consideration and kindness. His help has always been offered unconditionally even when it was known we were going with another lender. Several weeks after we decided to go with the other lender, the taxes assessed on the home we currently own, and while I had told the other lender there was a possibility of an increase in our current mortgage, when they pulled things together to prepare for closing this slight change unqualified us to purchase a new home while still owning our current home. The options for solution they suggested, while possible, were not things we wanted to do.
I thought of James, the help he had offered in the past and his offer to help in anyway in the future; even with this loan. I wondered if he would be able to offer some assistance. I hesitated to ask since it was uncertain what would happen with the loan. I called him anyway in desperation of another solution to our problem. Keep in mind the closing date was merely 21 days away, we had military orders and if things fell through we would find ourselves (my wife, my three kids and myself) in Ohio with no place to live while we started the entire house buy process over.
As in all of our previous encounters, James was extremely caring and helpful. He ran our numbers through again and said that the approval was still coming through and he wasn't sure why the other lender could no longer gain an approval. He rechecked and triple checked all the numbers, (to include researching additionally all the associated taxes and expenses of the house we were trying to buy) all so that we could get an honest and complete answer. Again all of the help given by James returned no monetary advantage to him or Herring.
It has been my experience that very few businesses value customer service anymore and fewer still are willing to help a customer when they know another business will most likely benefit from their work. James has repeatedly shown that his main concern is the customer and their success; regardless of whether that will yield a benefit to him. Throughout the negotiations for our next mortgage it was always James that set the bar and it was the local lender in Dayton that would match it. The other lender was always trying "not to lose our business" while I felt James was always trying to help us knowing that if he could, your bank would also benefit. I had never heard of Herring Bank prior to my inquires into this most recent mortgage but I will ensure that everyone I know will not only have heard of Herring Bank but know the value they place upon customer service. This speaks volumes to us!
Initially it came down to a personal referral that edged us to the other lender; I wish I had not chosen as I did. But I am glad we were able to get the loan through Herring Bank in the end. I have told James that Herring Bank Mortgage will be the only lender I talk with as I prepare to buy my next and hopefully final home when our military assignment in Ohio draws to a close.

Great Job
I am a Realtor and the buyer chose this bank. They were even in another state so of course i was hesitant. I worked directly with Andre Dubos and he did an amazing job. we had a few hurdles to overcome and his follow up was excellent. I would certainly recommend him again.

I would not have any reservation in recommending Herring Bank Mortgage. I dealt with James Hanson and he was great. He answered all of my questions in a timely and professional manner.
