Wish I could give them zero stars because they gave me zero results.

I was excited about the very low interest rates and decided to refinance my home and saw I could lower my interest rate by .5% and save $200 a month. I picked Homeplus Mortgage from Lending Tree because they had good ratings. I later discovered that was a huge mistake and I picked an incompetent company that didn't know what they were doing. I thought all was well because they gathered information from me and approved my loan. They had me send them so much paper work over a one month period of time all affirming the information I had given them. It took a while to negotiate the terms because the loan wasn't as good as the one they had promised me but finally we agreed on the terms and they had me sign the agreement to the estimate and I was just waiting for the final paperwork to sign and get my loan. When I saw I got a new email from them I was excited thinking this was the final paperwork and I would be signing for the loan. Instead it was just a short letter saying something to the effect of "sorry we are unable to complete your loan, hopefully another lender can help you." That was it, like it was nothing. In the meantime interest rates had gone up and it would no longer be possible for me to get the loan that I needed at the rate I needed to make the whole process worthwhile. So I was left with nothing because they obviously didn't know what they were doing and now it is too late to get the loan I needed because they wasted over one month of my time. Nothing changed on my end during this time and they had all my information from the beginning and gave me the pre-approval but if they couldn't help me I wish they would have told me from the beginning so I could find a company that could. I had other companies calling me to help me but I told them I already had a loan in process so I didn't use them (now I wish I had). I hope this saves you from wasting your time with them and find a company that knows is able to fulfill on their promises.

Disrespectful Customer Service

Well I was only given seven minutes of Zach's time until he hung up on me then sent me an email lying about finding another lender. When it comes to paying out large amounts of money to people or businesses, I ask a lot of questions. This should be understood by any customer service related job but not to Zach. Because I didn't just take his word for an explanation and wanted more of an explanation (which he could not provide) he became disrespectful and rude then just hung up on me. I don't expect anyone to have all the answers and not knowing is ok, just say I don't know but ill find out. Being rude only makes you worse. Based on this companies reviews, there are probably good loan officers working there, but Zach is not one I would trust my money with.

I’m sorry to hear that you had a bad experience with our company. I’ve spoken to the employee involved and reviewed the notes from the call. It appears that our loan officer attempted to explain the differences in rates for cash-out vs non-cash out early in the call and was met with some surprise and resistance. He attempted to explain another way and then also offered to give you the rate offered on a no cash-out loan since you said you didn’t’ really need the cash out, you said you had the money in the bank. You made it clear that you felt very strongly that you should be given the same rate for cash out as non-cash out loan and the loan officer’s explanation was not satisfactory to you. You stated we should be happy to be lending a larger loan amount and we should not also need to charge a higher rate because we would make more money over the life of the loan due to a higher loan amount. The loan officer attempted a 3rd time to explain in a different way that we could not honor a non-cash out rate if you took cash out of your home during the refinance. You then stated confidently that your cash out loan should not be considered any more risky than a non-cash out loan and therefore be given the non-cash out rate. At that point the loan officer decided (possibly a little pre-maturely) that he would not be successful in explaining to you that we could not offer the non-cash out rates on a cash out loan, apologized that he did not think he could help you out and wished you the best of luck in your search. When he ended the call, you were not speaking and he did not hang up on you mid-sentence. We apologize for our inability to better explain the risk levels of cash out versus non-cash out refinances and the reasons for the difference in rate. We wish you only the best in your search for your next loan.

Unprofessional Loan Officer

Based on the great reviews, I was surprised when the loan officer, Zach Adams, had a very bad attitude. Our conversation was under seven minutes and in that time he became argumentative and disrespectful. I do ask a lot of questions but being that I am refinancing a mortgage and will be paying out a lot of money to them and their lender, I think I have the right too. Zach told me that he could not give me the rate I was quoted because his system did not calculate the cash out I wanted. He stated that since I am taking out equity I must have financial issues. He also stated even with a high income, very low debt and large cash availability, his lender sees anyone wanting to cash out equity as high risk and financially insecure. I told him that doesn't make sense and that was not my situation. He responded by saying that if I had the money then why do I need it from the bank, just use my own money. When I tried to inform him why, he cut me off reiterating the same point and saying he already answered my question, then hung up on me. Seven minutes? That's all it took for his patience to run out and become rude and disrespectful. Zach then sent me an email a few minutes later stating he understood that I was choosing a different lender but wanted to stay in touch in case I needed any future assistance. What? Sounds like he was off his meds or needs to increase the dosage. I would not do business with a company that employs people like Zach.
