Ryan Ferguson was great, the rest not so much - be wary of their affiliate Solidifi
Ryan is the lead mortgage broker we worked with on the refi. He is prompt, courteous and professional, and the rates were competitive. However, the rest of the refi experience was mixed at best.
Specifically, they required me to use a captive appraisal company called Solidifi, and the person they sent was unprofessional with highly questionable ethics. He (admittedly inadvertently) caused a storm door to jam, but when I questioned why he was messing with it, he simply washed his hands off and said I need to call someone to fix it because he can't fix it; I know from other businesses that this was their liability and they should be carrying insurance to cover such issues. On top of that, he billed me $260 more for the appraisal than I had agreed to, for no justifiable reason - apparently the appraisal was "more complicated than expected." And they delayed responding to my complaint long enough where my choices were either not to refinance and lose the interest rate lock and the full appraisal fee, or move forward knowing I got scammed on the appraisal.
And then it took three visits by the notary to get the documents signed because of them not having the right accounts set up in the first visit, and then printing and bringing the wrong set of documents the second time.
Made me remind myself again not to go with online brokers no matter how enticing the rate.
