The process was as expected with some unjustifiable charges used just to increase the banks bottom line. Some of the underwriting was also arbitrary using the banks rules.

I think I got the best deal

I went with Trevor because he was very persistent and quick to answer any question I had. I went through the Costco program which connected me to him. If I could make a suggestion it would be to have him communicate a little more while you’re in the process. I felt like I a nuisance checking in, although that was no fault of Trevor’s.

Four Point Five Stars

Seattle is a competitive market, even during a worldwide pandemic. There are a few popular approaches to purchasing (all can feel like a racket). Having a local lender, often recommended to you by your agent/broker, is part of that package. I liked NBKC's high reviews and what they were offering, so I bucked against the trend of having a local lender. Overall I'm happy with how things worked out. Of course NBKC wasn't the only lender I talked with, but I realized within our first couple of conversations, that Robb's straightforward approach would likely be beneficial to me. There’s a lot to learn as a first time homebuyer, and spending this much hard-earned money is stressful. Robb was accessible, adaptable and great with pacing me through the process. It was important for me to be confident that I was making the best decisions I could for my circumstances and under the inform of people who I believed to be trustworthy. I also appreciated Robb's transparency and willingness to answer my questions, thoroughly.

Everything was done as promised

Mike helped me refinancing my mortgage in Florida. He communicates well and in timely manner. He does what he says he would and provides clear explanations when needed.
One area of improvement for him (or his bank or the regulators) that I would recommend is not requiring prospective borrowers to conduct and pay for an appraisal if one was recently performed on the property. I had an appraisal done by a licensed 3rd party a month before I applied for a loan with NBKC. Yet they required another appraisal done and I had to pay another $500. Literally the same appraiser came in, spend a few minutes making slightly different pictures and left. It seems that since it wasn't bank's money that had to be spent, they weren't overly concerned about making me waste $500.

Good Job!

I called three loan companies. Scott with NBKC was the most transparent and straight forward person I dealt with. One lender was extremely aggressive, the other seemed like they didn’t care much for my business. Scott was just right, he answered all my questions very thoroughly and made the process very easy. My only gripe is that around the end of the closing process, I had a couple questions and he was a little harder to get a hold of. Also, his estimate on my property taxes was about 130$/month off. However, the way he structured the loan, I felt he was genuinely looking out for my best interest. Overall, he did a good job!

Fast and easy process.

Our process was very easy and fast. I am glad I work with him for loan process. I haven't actually talk to him but my husband talked to him.
