I worked with Biff Bryan, he was excellent. He kept me informed about all the information that was needed and even worked with me to get some of the information from their sources. He was honest and upfront about all the fees, rates and anything having to do with dollars and cents. When I felt a little frustrated or overwhelmed, he helped calm me down and focus on the issues at hand. I would highly recommend working with him for any future home loans.

We were recommended NBKC Bank through a friend familiar with VA loans and it was one of the best recommendations we have received in the home-buying process! Our loan officer was extremely friendly and very thorough. She spent time answering my questions over the phone and through email. I had some issues with their electronic document review service (they are currently in the process of switching platforms) and she made sure I had a pdf copy to review in case I had issues with access.
We live in a different state than NBKC and closed on a for sale by owner property. Our officer was fantastic at answering any and all questions we had about the process, one that would have normally involved real estate agents. I would absolutely recommend NBKC, especially for those looking to use VA funding.
I found NBKC's rates very competitive. However, the responsiveness and customer service of our loan officer, Matt Hering, was unacceptable. The friend who referred me to NBKC also mentioned that Matt was consistently delayed on answering questions and completing paperwork for their loan. I experienced the same things with Matt. Throughout my loan processing (45+ days), I was constantly reaching out to Matt to ensure things were on track. He did a poor job of keeping me posted on the progress of our loan processing. Additionally, my realtor and the title company stated they had to consistently follow-up with Matt to ensure my paperwork was be processed correctly and in a timely manner. It seemed that Matt was always out of the office when I tried calling. Upon receiving my draft closing disclosure I contacted Matt regarding some questions I had. He was not able to explain any of the concerns I had with the numbers not adding up. Additionally, instead of him reviewing the version of the document I had been sent he continued to use the excuse that "his view was different that mine, so he wasn't sure what I was seeing." Lastly, my loan closing was delayed from the originally scheduled closing. According to my realtor and the title company, NBKC made multiple mistakes in the closing documents that required fixes which delayed the closing. Other than the competitive rate and buyer incentives offered by NBKC, I wascompletely dissatisfied with the responsiveness and customer service I received from NBKC and Matt Hering. Had I not been in a compressed timeline I would have discontinued my service with NBKC and sought a new lender. I DO NOT recommend NBKC to anyone.

Kelli Kern-Denner was absolutely fantastic. She is was ridiculously quick to respond and super adaptable when we had a curve balls with the property. Being a first time home buyer, she answered my questions perfectly and was patient when I asked the same questions multiple times. Our purchase was a duplex that had to be mortgage separately for each unit and with Kelli's help, we were able to close both mortgages in 37 days. My realtor was so impressed he will be recommending her to his clients from now on, and I believe is working with her on a property of his own. Very impressed with Kelli's hard work. Absolute ideal professional.
