We refinanced our home and Jake helped us with choosing the best option and also has answered all our questions that we had during the process. The whole process was very smooth and we were able close on time as expected.
Completely Failed Us During Original Week of Closing
The night before moving in and closing at our new home purchase across the country we were notified that we needed to pay for expensive repairs before the underwriter would approve. The appraiser didn’t require these repairs to be made by the seller prior to closing, so it didn’t make sense for it to become the responsibility of the buyer before being allowed to close. Also, the lender/underwriter had the completed appraisal in hand for over a week before closing, so it was extremely unfair to be notified of this change in closing the night before driving across the country to move into a new house. So not only was the request extremely unusual, but it was also at the last minute. Once the lender decided to do this, all of the key stakeholders (realtors, buyer, and seller) were reasonably upset with the last minute delay by the lender. The lender did not seem to understand why we were upset and did not have a sense of urgency about the situation. Our processor with the lending company seemed to take it personally that we were upset about the situation, and her communication from that point forward was rude, combative, and unprofessional. I 100% do not recommend Zillow Home Loans.

It varied from fantastic to disappointing at times.
I chose Zillow because of the time they could close the loan. And they did, in 3 weeks, which was fantastic. I had to provide some additional documents but they were prompt and attentive in letting me know what they needed and we got the job done. But at the end of the process we ran into a problem that was not handled to my satisfaction. I expected more professionlism and more proactive problem solving skills. In my opinion, as a customer I should never get a call from a vendor saying there is a problem, and the manager not be prepared to offer a solution. I had to make suggestions about what they should do, which they did but time was lost. I should never get a call saying "we made a decision on your behalf" without contacting me and giving me the options and allowing me to choose. As a customer I don't appreciate that. In the end, it was resolved. But it also could have been avoided.

Horrible experience!
2 weeks after closing on a refinance and they still have not finished making the payouts. I'm now paying double interest on loans that they were supposed to pay off at closing. One excuse and lie after another. They are just holding the money instead of making the payouts. Save yourself the headache and do not deal with Zillow how me loans!!

Was looking to purchase a new home while already owning 2 rental properties and at the time our current primary home. Found a new house that would fit our growing family but had concerns about getting approved for a loan. Explained our desire to to be qualified for a loan while still being able to own our current primary home to Jake. Jake listened to our needs and I asked for a pre approval letter to write an offer on the new house we found. With the market as hot as it has been we did not want to loose out on the house. Jake gathered all of our information quickly and knew what information he needed. He was very quick and had us a pre approval letter for the amount we needed in less than 48 hours. He also took care of communicating with our realtor so we did not have to forward them anything. Very nice not having to deal with that. The dashboard feature was easy to use and everything was quickly submitted to underwriting. I will tell you I was a little concerned about using a Loan Officer not local to me but I did not have a good experience with our previous local officer. Even though I lived in WI and Jake was in KS the process was flawless and I will use Jake whenever I need to buy a property. Obtained a quick and easy refinance with John Tran and processor Alma. I shopped around and found the best rate with Zillow, then JT and Alma walked me through the process, and always available for questions via their direct dial number numbers. Very helpful and smooth experience.
Excellent process, excellent rate, excellent service
I placed this same review on the Zillow Home Loans site: John Vu Tran (JT) and processor Laurie Ho provided the best service I could possibly ask for from an online lender. My wife and I saw some bad reviews online for Zillow Home Loans and were apprehensive at first. However, my experience initially with JT alleviated any doubts. Not only did he get us the best rate out of about 5 different companies I was dealing with, but he got us fees that were so amazing that another lender said 'take the deal'. From JT to Laurie, the process was easy. I really didn't have to do much once we transitioned to processing other than signing a few online docs. Once we went to closing, an agent came to our home, we signed all the papers, and off we went. We started the refinance process in September, dealt all the companies you can imagine, and then settled with Zillow in around the end of September or early October. We closed on the loan with the signing of all documents on 10/25.
Jake Waldon is knowledgeable, professional and very friendly. He got our refinance closed in 34 days - at a great interest rate and with final closing costs lower than he initially (and conservatively) quoted to us. We shopped around for refinance rates, and Zillow Home Loans by far gave us the best deal. Jake made the entire refinancing process easy and kept us informed. Jake also followed through with every promise made to us - and more - and we are extremely happy to have found him.
