Not a good customer exp********.No one called me to inform me of anything. I had to call in every time just to get a update. You have to agree to allow this to take your monthly payments out of your account..I didn't like that, giving them full access to my account.. I will pay this loan off and never use them again.

Would not recommend
When I was going through bereavement of 3 family members at separate times, during the course of a 7 month window, I reach out to Upgrade for assistance on spreading out the bill payments or even diverting even one payment. The response I received was since it was already set in, they would not change any payment plans or divert even a payment. To add salt to the already really raw wound, even after telling them that I having financial hardship as well as bereavement they still even stated "We are willing to loan you more money". I'm sorry, at what point did I say I needed to borrow MORE money. I was willing to work with them, but clearly they only care about money and not people. Therefore, even in the future, as this loan was paid off by other means, if I ever have the need to borrow money and even if they have the best rate there, I will be hard pressed to even consider them. If they do not care about people, why would I want to deal with that type of company?

Unhappy experience
The process was easy. However, I did not fully read the disclosure statement and so did not realize that a significant fee would be taken off the top of my loan. I was blindsided and upset by this. It was not mentioned at any other time during the process for the loan. In the future, I believe it needs to be mentioned outside of the disclosure statement.

SHOCKED!!
I researched this company for over 2 weeks, met all the requirements and was still denied this morning. They require a minimum credit score of 600 and mine is around 695 and was still denied. DON'T waste your time. I had a bankruptcy a year ago but it is discharged. No credit cards, no car payments and my score is decent but still denied. I am still in disbelief even as I write this and I was only asking for 5K !!!

It was a good experience.
On average it was a positive experience with only minor glitches. Funds arrived promptly. My one telephone conversation with your rep was helpful.

Great Start, Horrible Ending!
To be clear, getting the loan was fast, easy and hassle free - the problems started after that. While the application and set-up are all online, the online system is lacking - ESPECIALLY if you are attempting to pay more than the minimum or pay off the loan in question. With that said, if you skip to the bottom of this review, I have other companies I have used in the past and evaluated for additional options. The first frustration happened when I wanted to send an additional payment - most other companies permit you to post additional payments in between billing cycles, Upgrade does not. The website does appear to allow you, but in all actuality, it does not. The final straw was when I paid off the account, it asks you to input a routing and account number, which I did and confirmed it (their customer service staff acknowledged the additional account), but then they drafted it from the previously used account number. For some, this would not be an issue, for me, it was and it resulted in me being overdrawn in an account, having to take a half of day off a work and get a cashiers check to the other bank and negotiate on overdraft fees. Why I feel this is not my responsibility - I specifically identified and confirmed the routing and account number the funds were to be drafted from. Their customer service staff was polite, but relatively clueless and were offended by my anger and frustration. With that said, I am confused how a customer should respond when your initial pleas for assistance is met with, "there is nothing I can do" and when urgently trying to find a resolution they want to discuss why they made the mistake. Basically, my feeling is that this company makes it more difficult to make additional payments to principal and when there are errors, they are great at apologizing, but not at resolving any of the problems. To be clear, the staff are polite, but clueless on their system - as with two representatives I got "suggestions" that weren't even possible on the website I was using. If you are looking for a personal loan and you want flexibility, I would look to other companies - like SoFi, Discover, Wells Fargo, etc - good news, if you have an account with CreditKarma (which I believe is free to sign up for - to check/monitor credit) you can even get pre-qualified for multiple companies factoring in your credit score.

Will not help a returning customer
I had a loan through Upgrade and paid it off in full and later on applied for another loan and they declined my application. They don’t appreciate good customers.

Don't waste your time
They need to get their employees on the same page. One woman told me rental income would be considered. I sent all the documents to prove my income. When I called to check the status, the man who took my call said I didn't make enough. When I asked why, he could only count 1 months rent on one house ($1,300) and not the yearly amount of $38,000 for 4 houses. Big difference. If the first woman would have told me that, I wouldn't have even bothered going any further. Waste of time especially when they said I was pre-qualified. Now I have a fresh inquiry ding on my credit.

Waste of Time
May be good with simple small loans, but these guys are a total fail if you have multiple incomes backing your loan. Lack of effective communication or understanding of anything beyond a simple single income source became problematic in the loan process. I was asked for the same documents 2 or 3 times, over a course of 3 weeks, then realized they had them. Finally just cancelled... frustrating waste of time AND a hit to my credit report. Pretty bad...
