LendingTree Publishes Annual Online Education Review for 2013

CHARLOTTE, NC (February 6, 2014) – LendingTree Education, the higher education vertical of LendingTree, has published its first Annual Education Review for 2013.  This review provides comprehensive demographic statistics on gender, level of education, areas of concentration and geography for online higher education. 2013 Education Year in Review Key Highlights

  • Gender:  According to the study, two out of three degree-seekers are women (66.21%).  Nursing and healthcare degree programs are sought after by primarily women (84.05%).  Men tend to outnumber women by the greatest percentage in technology (76.25%), science, math and engineering (75.98%) and business (60.51%)
  • Level of Education:  In 2013, 23.32 percent of degree seekers had received their high school diploma or GED, 27 percent have some level of college experience and 22.56 percent have received a bachelor’s degree.  Over 7 percent of online degree seekers have completed a master’s degree
  • Areas of Specialization:  Business Administration ranks first in popularity among degree-seekers, with 14.14 percent choosing this field, followed by Bachelors in Nursing (7.76%), and Criminal Justice (5.81%)
  • Geography: California leads the nation with 11.16 percent of LendingTree Education degree-seekers residing in the state, followed by Texas (8.6%) and Florida (6.93%)
