CHARLOTTE, N.C., April 16, 2009 – LendingTree and Thrive (www.JustThrive.com) will participate in Financial Literacy Day on Capitol Hill on April 30. Company executives Nicole Hall and Avi Karnani will meet with staffers and members of Congress to discuss the importance of financial education among Americans and showcase what the company is doing to collaborate in this important effort.

“LendingTree and Thrive have been advocates of financial literacy for many years and we are honored to join the effort to help Americans get their hands on useful and helpful personal finance information and tools,” said Ms. Hall.  “The company believes that increased financial literacy is instrumental to all Americans, ensuring each of us makes informed, educated decisions beginning at a young age and on through retirement age.”

An expert on helping young people with personal finance, Karnani added, “Understanding their personal finances is the missing link in the education of many young people in their twenties and thirties.  They know it’s a problem, they want help, and we need to do more to make sure they are getting it.”

LendingTree has a long-standing commitment to financial literacy and helping consumers make smart fiscal decisions throughout their lives. The cornerstone of the LendingTree financial literacy program is the Smart Borrower Center (www.lendingtree.com/smartborrower), an online educational resource designed to help visitors navigate the often-confusing world of credit, debt and loans, and help foster an understanding of financial concepts. In the past year, LendingTree has expanded the program with innovative tools such as the Mortgage CheckUp, the Loan Coach, and much more.

LendingTree recently recruited Thrive to join the Tree.com family in its mission to be the online destination for smart financial decisions. Thrive’s financial advisory engine is a free, user-friendly way to empower people to take control of their financial lives and change the behaviors that underlie their relationship to money.  Tapping into the fact that the X and Y generations have long been ignored by traditional high-end financial advisors and have neither the time nor expertise for effective do-it-yourself financial planning, Thrive set about to help create personalized advice based on individual needs and lifestyles.
