Charlotte, NC – August, 10, 2004 – LendingTree will receive the Living and Giving Award on November 13, 2004 at the Fourth Annual Hope Gala of the Charlotte Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International (JDRF). The black tie optional event will take place at the Westin Charlotte Hotel, and is expected to raise more than $310,000 for research to find a cure for juvenile diabetes.

Through the efforts of their employees, LendingTree has helped to raise over $87,000 for diabetes research in support of the Walk to Cure Diabetes, Celebrity Golf Classic and this Hope Gala. “We’re so honored to be able to do this extremely important work,” said David Anderson, Senior VP and GM, LTSS. “Several of our employees and their families are affected by type 1 diabetes and I understand the daily difficulties and stress this puts on a family. Insulin is life support and not a cure.”

The evening will consist of a silent and live auction, dinner and dancing. Table Sponsorships and tickets are available. For more information, contact Beth Brodie at 704.544.9105 ext. 3. The event also will feature a “Fund-A-Cure” drive in which donations are made directly to fund a diabetes research grant.

Pat McFeeley, Chairman of the Board of the Charlotte Chapter of JDRF, said, “We are honored to have LendingTree’s support. They have done so much to help us find a cure. Partnerships with outstanding corporate citizens such as LendingTree are what enable JDRF to speed faster down the path to a cure.”

JDRF, the leading charitable funder and advocate of juvenile (type 1) diabetes research worldwide, was founded in 1970 by the parents of children with juvenile diabetes – a disease which strikes children suddenly, makes them insulin-dependent for life, and carries the constant threat of devastating complications. Since inception, JDRF has provided more than $800 million in direct funding to diabetes research. More than 80 percent of JDRF’s expenditures directly support research and research-related education. JDRF’s mission is constant: to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research. For more information, visit the JDRF web site at www.jdrf.org or call 704.341.7828.
