Generous sign-up bonus
Earn 60,000 bonus points after you spend $4,000 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening.Tip: This is one of the most valuable sign-up bonuses currently available. You can redeem points through the Chase Travel℠ portal for a good value, but you can stretch points farther by transferring them to Chase’s travel partners. We estimate that you can get around $1,200 in award travel by strategically transferring your points. Chase points don’t expire, so this is also a great way to save up for a larger travel purchase.

Rewards on everyday purchases
You’ll enjoy benefits such as 5x on travel purchased through Chase Travel℠, 3x on dining, select streaming services and online groceries, 2x on all other travel purchases, 1x on all other purchases, $50 Annual Chase Travel Hotel Credit, plus more.
25% increase in point value when you redeem through Chase TravelSM
When you redeem your points for travel through Chase TravelSM, you’ll get 25% more value from those rewards. So instead of being worth 1 cent each, points will be worth 1.25 cents each.
Additionally, the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card comes with Pay Yourself BackSM, which makes points worth 25% more when you redeem them for statement credits on existing purchases in select categories that rotate throughout the year.
1-to-1 point transfer to airline partners
You can transfer points at a rate of 1-to-1 to 11 airline partners and three hotel partners. Points are usually worth around 2 cents each when transferred to Chase TravelSM partners, the highest value available for Chase Ultimate Rewards® points.
To transfer Chase points, you’ll log in to your account, select your Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card and click “Redeem Rewards.” You’ll be able to choose your transfer airline or hotel partner and how many points you want to transfer. You can only transfer points in increments of 1,000.
You can get the most value by transferring your points to the right airline or hotel partners. But, actual redemption value will vary depending on the partner airline, hotel brand, destination and what time of year you’re booking. Here’s an example of how much you could earn with 1,000 Ultimate Rewards points:
$50 annual hotel credit
Earn up to $50 in statement credits each account anniversary for hotel stays booked through Chase TravelSM. The credit will automatically apply to your account. Additionally, the first $50 in Chase TravelSM hotel purchases won’t earn rewards points.
10% anniversary boost
Each account anniversary, you’ll earn bonus points equal to 10% of your total purchases made in the previous year.
How much is this benefit worth?
The value of this benefit varies based on your spending. For example, if you spend $20,000 in purchases in a year, you’ll receive a bonus of 2,000 points, worth around $40 by our estimates.
$0 foreign transaction fees
The Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card comes with $0 in foreign transaction fees — meaning, you won’t be charged additional fees if you use the card to make purchases outside of the U.S.
“I loved being able to use my Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card on my recent trip to Canada because of its $0 foreign transaction fee. I didn’t have to worry about any issues with the card being declined while away.”

To compare the travel protections offered with the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card, we looked at Allianz trip insurance, an option provided by popular airlines like American Airlines and Delta.
For a roundtrip for two from New York, plans begin at $36 for Domestic Awards Trip Protector and $56 for International Award Trip Protection. Annual plans range from $200 for the annual basic package and $498 for the annual deluxe package.
As you can see from the table below, the protections you’ll get with the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card are well worth the annual fee.
