Annual fee
While the Delta SkyMiles® Reserve Business American Express Card comes with an annual fee of $550, know that what you get in return, provided you take advantage of all the benefits, can more than offset the cost of carrying the card.
However, if you don’t think you’ll take advantage of all the card has to offer, then you may be better served with a lower-annual-fee Delta business card.
Low earnings rate on non-Delta purchases
With the Delta SkyMiles® Reserve Business American Express Card, you’ll earn 3 Miles on every dollar spent on eligible purchases made directly with Delta. Only very high spenders will reap the higher rewards rate on non-Delta purchases, and even then, 1.5x miles isn’t very generous.

If you’re not ready to take the plunge with the Delta SkyMiles® Reserve Business American Express Card, the next best Delta business card is the Delta SkyMiles® Platinum Business American Express Card, which comes with a lower $250 annual fee.
Earn 100,000 Bonus Miles after spending $4,000 in purchases on your new Card in your first 3 months of Card Membership. Offer Ends 8/3/2022. For ongoing rewards, earn 3 Miles on every dollar spent on eligible purchases made directly with Delta and on every eligible dollar spent on purchases made directly with hotels.
Plus, the card has an ongoing APR of 17.24% - 26.24% variable.
What you’ll lose in exchange for the lower annual fee is free lounge access, and a lower MQM earning opportunity. However, the Delta SkyMiles® Platinum Business American Express Card carries most of the same travel benefits and protections as the Delta Reserve for Business Credit Card.

Before you apply for the Delta SkyMiles® Reserve Business American Express Card, ask yourself a couple of questions: Is flying Delta convenient for you and your staff, and is it almost always your airline of choice? Will you actually use benefits like the Delta Sky Club®, free checked bag and companion ticket? If the answer to both is a resounding yes, then you’ll easily get a lot of value out of this card, even with its hefty annual fee. If not, then perhaps a more flexible and less costly business travel card option like the Delta SkyMiles® Platinum Business American Express Card will better suit your business needs.
