Our take: The Ink Business Unlimited® Credit Card is packed with a ton of value for a flat-rate, $0 annual fee. You’ll get accelerated cash back on every purchase, a lucrative sign-up bonus and an interest-free period on purchases. But if you typically spend a large amount in popular business categories each month, you’ll be better off with a card that offers a higher rewards rate on those purchases.

Pros and cons

  • Flat cash back rate on every purchase
  • Valuable sign-up bonus
  • Flexible rewards
  • Intro APR on purchases
  • $0 annual fee
  • Employee cards at no additional cost
  • Solid benefits
  • No bonus earning categories
  • Less travel perks than other business cards
  • Foreign transaction fees

Is the Ink Business Unlimited® Credit Card good?

If you’re not sure where to start with a credit card for your business, the Ink Business Unlimited® Credit Card keeps things simple. The $0-annual-fee card lets you earn unlimited 1.5% cash back on every purchase made for your business. Plus, there’s a valuable sign-up bonus worth $750 and a long intro APR on purchases. This card also has some of the most flexible rewards to redeem.

That said, if you want to maximize your earning potential and you don’t mind keeping track of bonus spending categories, a card that offers a higher rewards rate on popular business purchases may be a better fit.

Ink Business Unlimited® Credit Card benefits

  • Flat cash back rate on every purchase

The Ink Business Unlimited® Credit Card offers a straightforward way to earn cash back. You’ll earn unlimited 1.5% cash back on every purchase made for your business. Because of this card’s flat rate, you can focus on running your business rather than trying to remember which spending categories earn higher cash back rewards. Compared to many other business cards, this is an extremely easy rewards program to manage.

If you want to earn a higher rate of cash back and don’t mind a much more complicated rewards structure, there are business cards with elevated rewards categories. For example, the Bank of America® Business Advantage Customized Cash Rewards Mastercard® credit card lets you earn 3% cash back in the category of your choice (for the first $50,000 in combined choice category/dining purchases each calendar year, 1% thereafter), 2% cash back on dining purchases (for the first $50,000 in combined choice category/dining purchases each calendar year, 1% thereafter) and 1% cash back on all other purchases.

  • Valuable sign-up bonus

The Ink Business Unlimited® Credit Card lets you earn $750 bonus cash back after you spend $6,000 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening. This is one of the highest sign-up bonuses you’ll find for a $0 annual fee business card. But you’ll have to spend $6,000 in the first three months to get it.

If you’re looking for an easier sign-up bonus to earn, The Bank of America® Business Advantage Customized Cash Rewards Mastercard® credit card allows you to get a $300 online statement credit after you make at least $3,000 in purchases in the first 90 days of your account opening. You’ll get less value, but you’ll have to spend less if you aren’t sure you’ll spend $6,000.

The Ink Business Cash® Credit Card lets you earn $350 when you spend $3,000 on purchases in the first three months and an additional $400 when you spend $6,000 on purchases in the first six months after account opening. This could be a good alternative if you aren’t sure you’ll spend $3,000 or $6,000 in the first three months because you’ll get rewarded either way.

  • Rewards are flexible and easy to redeem

The Ink Business Unlimited® Credit Card is a Chase Ultimate Rewards®, which is one of the most popular rewards programs because of its extremely flexible redemption options. You can redeem rewards for the following:

    • Cash back: Receive as a statement credit or direct deposit.
    • Travel: Book rental cars, hotel stays, flights and more through Chase Travel.
    • Apple Ultimate Rewards Store: Pay for all or part of Apple purchases through Chase Ultimate Rewards.
    • Gift cards: Redeem for gift cards from 150+ brands.

You can squeeze even more value from your Ink Business Unlimited® Credit Card by moving your rewards with another card that earns Chase Ultimate Rewards — such as the Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card, Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card or Chase Sapphire Reserve® — and redeem them through Chase Travel. You can also transfer Ultimate Rewards at a rate of 1:1 to 14+ airline and hotel partners.

  • Intro APR on purchases

The Ink Business Unlimited® Credit Card is a great choice if you’re planning to use your card to finance a large purchase, such as office furniture or business travel. You’ll get a 0% intro APR on purchases for 12 months. Then, a 18.49% - 24.49% Variable APR applies. This is a rare feature for a business credit card.

If you’re looking for a longer intro APR on purchases, the U.S. Bank Business Platinum Card is a good alternative. It offers a 0% intro APR on purchases for 18 billing cycles. After that, a 17.24% to 26.24% variable APR applies.

  • Other benefits

This card also offers the following useful benefits:

    • Employee cards at no additional cost: This allows you to set individual spending limits and earn rewards faster.
    • Additional 5% cash back: Get 5% cash back on Lyft rides through March 2025.
    • Primary rental car insurance: You’ll get primary rental car coverage when you decline the rental company’s collision insurance and charge the entire business rental cost to your card.
    • Travel and emergency assistance services: Legal and medical referrals or other travel and emergency assistance.
    • Roadside dispatch: 24/7 access to roadside assistance. This includes a tow, jumpstart, tire change, lockout service or gas delivery.
    • Purchase protection: Covers new purchases for 120 days against damage or theft up to $10,000 per claim and $50,000 per account.
    • Extended warranty protection: Extends the time of your U.S. manufacturer’s warranty by an additional year on eligible warranties of three years or less.

Ink Business Unlimited® Credit Card drawbacks

  • No bonus categories

The Ink Business Unlimited® Credit Card doesn’t offer any elevated cash back categories. This limits how much you can earn on business-related purchases.

The Ink Business Cash® Credit Card, The American Express Blue Business Cash™ Card and the Bank of America® Business Advantage Customized Cash Rewards Mastercard® credit card are a few $0 annual fee options that offer higher cash back rewards in spending categories important to businesses, but you’ll only get 1% on general purchases.

  • Less travel perks than some other business cards

If your business is centered around travel, you may prefer a card with additional travel protections, like trip delay, trip interruption or lost baggage insurance. You may also want access to more travel perks, like airport lounge access. Just know — the more travel benefits a card offers, the higher the annual fee usually is.

The Ink Business Cash® Credit Card is a similar no-annual-fee business credit card issued by Chase. The main differences are the rewards rate and the sign-up bonus. You’ll earn 5% cash back on the first $25,000 spent in combined purchases at office supply stores and on internet, cable and phone services each account anniversary year. Earn 2% cash back on the first $25,000 spent in combined purchases at gas stations and restaurants each account anniversary year. Earn 1% cash back on all other card purchases with no limit to the amount you can earn.

You’ll also earn $350 when you spend $3,000 on purchases in the first three months and an additional $400 when you spend $6,000 on purchases in the first six months after account opening.

While the ability to earn up to 5% back on your purchases is generous, keep in mind that once you hit the spending caps, you’ll only earn 1% back on every purchase.

The American Express Blue Business Cash™ Card offers a simple rewards structure with no bonus categories — but at a higher rate than the Ink Business Unlimited® Credit Card. The $0-annual-fee card lets you earn 2% cash back on all eligible purchases on up to $50,000 per calendar year, then 1%.

Similar to the Ink Business Unlimited® Credit Card and Ink Business Cash® Credit Card, The American Express Blue Business Cash™ Card offers an interest-free period on purchases. Plus, you’ll get American Express’s Expanded Buying Power feature, which allows you to exceed your credit limit with no overlimit fees.

While this card offers a higher rewards rate, you’ll only get that rate on purchases up to $50,000. So if your company charges more than $4,200 each month on average on business expenses, you’ll be better off with the Ink Business Unlimited® Credit Card.
