2025 and 2026 Centurion® Lounge updates:

You can typically enter the lounge with a same-day boarding pass if there are three or fewer hours before your expected departure time.
To access Amex Centurion® Lounges, members will need to present:
- A qualifying credit card
- A same-day boarding pass
- A government-issued photo I.D.
Cardmembers must be at least 18 years old to enter Centurion® Lounges without a parent or legal guardian. The minimum age for cardmembers to enter a lounge without a parent or legal guardian at locations that feature a self-service bar is the local legal drinking age.

When Centurion® Lounges were first introduced, the American Express Platinum Card® and The Business Platinum Card® from American Express cardmembers could bring two guests or immediate family for no charge.

The Centurion® Lounge pet policy
Service animals and eligible, active-duty military dogs are allowed into Centurion® Lounges, but pets are not listed as being permitted. Amex requests that animals be kept on a leash or harness at all times, unless this would impede the animal’s ability to perform its duties. The pet owner/handler must care for the animal for the entire visit.

Two new Centurion® Lounges in the United States are currently in development: Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas is opening a new Sidecar location in 2026. This type of lounge will be “an upcoming, small-format lounge,” according to Amex. Another location in Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) is also opening in 2026.
On the international front: There is also one international Centurion® Lounge scheduled to open in 2026, at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport (AMS).
Amex Centurion Club
American Express also has an Amex Centurion Club, currently with one location on the 55th floor of New York City’s One Vanderbilt building. Although it has a similar name to the Amex Centurion® Lounges you’ll find inside airports, the Amex Centurion Club is actually more akin to an upscale restaurant. Centurion Members are permitted to bring up to seven guests for confirmed dining reservations or walk-in dining.
Note that, unlike with Centurion® Lounges in airports, food and drinks at the Amex Centurion Club are not free.
Other lounge network access with Amex
While the Amex Centurion® Lounge is the main lounge network exclusively affiliated with American Express cards, some cards also offer access to other lounge networks. For example, both the American Express Platinum Card® and The Business Platinum Card® from American Express offer Priority Pass™ membership (enrollment required).
The American Express Platinum Card® and The Business Platinum Card® from American Express also grant access to other Amex-affiliated lounges within the Global Lounge Collection® for eligible cardmembers. These include:

The value of American Express Centurion® Lounges will vary widely depending on how often you can use them. If you frequently fly out of or through an airport with an Amex Centurion® Lounge location you can use during meal times, then you can easily get hundreds (or thousands) of dollars in value from your membership each year. What’s also appealing is the exclusivity of Centurion® Lounges, since there is no option for nonmembers to purchase day passes.
If, on the other hand, you rarely fly out of an airport with a Centurion® Lounge location, that perk might not be important to you. Access to Centurion® Lounges is only one of the benefits that come with the American Express Platinum Card® and The Business Platinum Card® from American Express, and there are other airline lounges that you might be able to access as a cardmember.
In general, with premium cards, the better question to ask yourself is: Is it worth the annual fee? Regularly reviewing their benefits such as premium lounge access can help you decide if you are getting enough value to outweigh the cost of the annual fee.
