What we like about the U.S. Bank Altitude® Go Visa Signature® Card

  • Generous rewards rate

U.S. Bank Altitude® Go Visa Signature® Card members earn the most generous rewards rate you can find for a card with a $0 annual fee. Earn 4X points on dining, takeout, and restaurant delivery, 2X points at grocery stores, grocery delivery, gas stations, EV charging stations and on streaming services. Plus, a $15 credit for annual streaming purchases like Netflix, Hulu, Spotify®, Apple Music, Disney+, HBO Max and more! And earn 1X points on all other eligible purchases. Cards like the Capital One Savor Cash Rewards Credit Card offer a similar rewards structure, but you would have to spend an additional $2,375 a year earning 4% cash back to make up for its $95 annual fee.*

U.S. Bank Altitude® Go Visa Signature® Card points, which never expire as long as the card account remains active, are worth approximately 1 cent each and can be redeemed for merchandise, gift cards, cash back, travel and more. Plus, by enrolling in Real-Time Rewards you can redeem points instantly via text message.

  • Streaming service credit

The U.S. Bank Altitude® Go Visa Signature® Card offers a $15 streaming service credit after 11 months of streaming purchases. This is in addition to the 2X points you will earn on streaming service purchases. Services include:

    • Amazon Music
    • Amazon Prime Video
    • Apple Music
    • Apple TV+
    • Audible
    • Discovery+
    • Disney+
    • ESPN+
    • HBO Max
    • Hulu
    • Netflix
    • Spotify
    • YouTube TV

See the full list of streaming services here.

  • Sign-up bonus

The U.S. Bank Altitude® Go Visa Signature® Card comes with a solid sign-up bonus worth around $200. Cardholders earn 20,000 bonus points when you spend $1,000 in eligible purchases within the first 90 days of account opening. This is comparable to the sign-up bonus you will earn with similar cards like the Capital One SavorOne Cash Rewards Credit Card; however, the U.S. Bank Altitude® Go Visa Signature® Card has a higher spend to reach the sign-up bonus.

  • Intro APR offers on purchases and balance transfers

If you want to finance a large purchase or transfer a balance interest-free, you can do so for a year with the U.S. Bank Altitude® Go Visa Signature® Card. Cardholders receive an intro period of 0% for 12 billing cycles on purchases, then a regular APR of 18.24% - 29.24% (variable) will apply.

The card also offers a 0% for 12 billing cycles on balance transfers. After that, an APR of 18.24% - 29.24% (variable) will apply to any unpaid portion of the balance.

  • Foreign transaction fee: None

Some credit cards charge a fee (typically 3%) for each transaction made outside the United States. The U.S. Bank Altitude® Go Visa Signature® Card doesn’t, so it’s a fine option to take with you when traveling abroad.

What to watch out for with the U.S. Bank Altitude® Go Visa Signature® Card

  • Restrictions on rewards redemption options

If you want to redeem points for cash back into a bank account, you must have a checking or savings account with U.S. Bank. Without one, you’ll still have access to redemption options such as statement credits and gift cards, but won’t be able to get cash back deposited into your bank account.

Also, know that when redeeming points for cash back, you must do so in increments of 2,500 points.

  • Mediocre benefits

The U.S. Bank Altitude® Go Visa Signature® Card lacks some of the popular benefits often offered by credit cards, such as purchase protections and cellphone insurance. For example other cash back credit cards like the American Express® Gold Card offer a number of travel and shopping protections. But these come at the cost of an annual fee.

  • Balance transfer fee

While the U.S. Bank Altitude® Go Visa Signature® Card offers an introductory APR on balance transfers, you will be subject to a balance transfer fee of either 3% of the amount of each transfer or $5 minimum, whichever is greater.

  • Can be difficult to qualify for

Some consumers have reported that if you’ve applied for any credit card in the past six months, or more than one card in the past year, U.S. Bank is likely to deny your application for the U.S. Bank Altitude® Go Visa Signature® Card.
