Visa Signature® is the mid-tier package of benefits provided by the Visa payment network. These benefits — which include protections like travel and emergency assistance and extended warranty coverage — are superior to those extended by standard Visa cards but less robust than those offered by Visa Infinite cards.

We compiled a comprehensive list of Visa Signature® benefits to help you get the most value from your card. Just know, because Visa Signature® benefits can vary from card to card, it’s best to check with the issuer to verify which specific perks and coverage levels are available to you.

Travel protections

If you encounter an emergency or need assistance while traveling, eligible Visa Signature® cards offer the following benefits:

Roadside dispatch

Visa Signature cardholders can access a pay-per-use roadside assistance program 24/7 by calling 800-847-2869. Services include standard towing, tire changing, jump-starting, lockout service, fuel delivery and standard winching.

Lost luggage reimbursement

If you use your eligible card to purchase an airline or common carrier ticket, you can receive reimbursement of up to $3,000 per trip (or up to $2,000 per bag if you live in New York) to cover your checked or carry-on luggage and its contents in the event of theft or misdirection by the airline.

Travel and emergency assistance services

As the covered cardholder, you, your spouse and your dependent children under the age of 22 can receive 24/7 access to a multilingual call center for emergency assistance. Services include assistance with medical referrals, emergency transportation, emergency massage services, prescriptions, emergency ticket replacement, legal referrals, lost luggage locator services and emergency translation services.

Note, the cardholder is responsible for the cost of any received services.

Auto rental collision damage waiver

Get built-in auto rental coverage when you rent a vehicle using your Visa Signature card, which covers physical damage, theft, reasonable and customary towing and loss-of-use charges. Note, you must decline the collision damage waiver coverage offered by the rental agency, and your name must be listed as the primary renter on the auto rental contract.

Global Entry statement credit

When you use your Visa Signature card to pay for your Global Entry application fee (currently $100), you can receive a $100 statement credit.

Trip delay reimbursement

Receive coverage of up to $300 if your air travel is delayed for more than 12 hours due to a covered hazard.

Trip cancellation and trip interruption reimbursement

If you use a covered Visa Signature card to purchase eligible travel — including air, ferry, rail, bus and cruise ship — and you need to cancel or interrupt your trip, you can receive reimbursement for the nonrefundable cost of your passenger fare.

Travel accident insurance

Receive protection against accidental death or dismemberment that occurs during eligible travel when you use your Visa Signature card to purchase the ticket.

Baggage delay reimbursement

Get reimbursed up to $300 for necessities you purchased if your checked baggage is delayed or misdirected for more than four hours.

Emergency evacuation

Receive transportation to the nearest medical facility for treatment (up to $10,000) if you are sick or injured when you use your eligible card to purchase your travel tickets.

Emergency card replacement

If your card is lost or stolen, Visa can work with your bank to expedite worldwide shipping of an emergency replacement within 24 to 72 hours.

Emergency cash disbursement

Upon bank approval, receive a wire cash transfer to your local Western Union within two hours.

Hotel theft protection

When you use your eligible card to pay for a hotel room in the U.S. or Canada, you can receive reimbursement for personal belongings that are stolen from your room.

Emergency medical and dental

Receive reimbursement of up to $2,500 for emergency medical or dental expenses you incur while traveling. Note, this is supplemental to and in excess of any valid insurance or other forms of reimbursement.

Purchase protections

When you use your covered Visa Signature® to make purchases, you can receive the following protections:

Cellphone protection

If you pay your monthly cellphone bill with your covered Visa Signature card, you can receive reimbursement if your phone is stolen or damaged. Note, there is a $50 deductible.

Zero liability policy

If your card is lost, stolen or fraudulently used, you won’t be held responsible for unauthorized transactions made using the card.

Lost or stolen card reporting

You can easily report your card lost or stolen by calling your Visa Signature card issuer or Visa Global Customer Services at 800-847-2911, and a representative will help you notify the necessary parties and replace your card.

Extended warranty protection

When you use your covered card to make eligible purchases, extended warranty protection will extend the term of your eligible U.S. manufacturer warranty up to one additional year on warranties of three years or less.

Price protection

Receive reimbursement for the difference in price if an item you purchased with your covered card appears in a print advertisement at a lower price.

Return protection

If you purchase an item for up to $250 that you become dissatisfied with within 90 days and the merchant will not accept it back, you can receive reimbursement through return protection.

Purchase security

New items are covered for the first 90 days against theft or damage due to eligible circumstances.

Travel and shopping benefits

In addition to protections, Visa Signature® benefits include a variety of travel and shopping perks:

Cardholders receive access to exclusive savings and offers, including a free Shipt membership (enrollment required), hotel discounts and more.

Are Visa Signature® benefits worth it?

Visa Signature® credit cards offer a number of exclusive perks and benefits that aren’t provided directly by the credit card issuer. While some of the features in the Visa Signature® package aren’t too exciting and have small chances of being used, there are certainly some perks that are worth being aware of.

Benefits like the auto rental collision damage waiver have real potential to save you money if you put them to use. Also, perks like lost luggage reimbursement and roadside dispatch can give you peace of mind when traveling.

While many cardholders may never utilize any of their Visa Signature® benefits, it’s always good to be aware that these perks are available should you need to use them.

Tip: Refer to your cardmember agreement to see the specific terms and conditions of each benefit offered by your card.

Which Visa Signature® credit card is right for you?

There are a variety of Visa Signature® credit cards to choose from, including travel cards, cash back cards, 0% intro APR cards and business credit cards. Ultimately, the right one for you comes down to your financial needs and how you plan to use the card.

For example, if you’re interested in earning valuable rewards that can be used to help offset the cost of future travel, and you plan to take advantage of premium travel benefits, the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card is a great option.

Cardholders receive access to the following benefits: trip cancellation and interruption insurance, auto rental collision damage waiver, baggage delay insurance, trip delay reimbursement, travel and emergency assistance services, purchase protection, extended warranty protection and more. Plus, new cardholders can earn 80,000 bonus points after you spend $4,000 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening. That's $1,000 when you redeem through Chase Ultimate Rewards®

If you prefer a card that offers simple cash back rewards and charges a $0 annual fee, the Wells Fargo Active Cash® Card may be a better option.

Cardholders earn unlimited 2% cash rewards on purchases, which can be redeemed to cover past purchases, as a credit to a qualified Wells Fargo account, for cash or for gift cards. Additionally, cardholders receive benefits like cellphone protection, 24/7 concierge service, access to the luxury hotel collection, emergency cash disbursement, auto rental collision damage waiver, roadside dispatch and more.

If you have a large amount of high-interest credit card debt that you want to transfer, consider a balance transfer card, like the Wells Fargo Reflect® Card. In addition to a 0% intro APR for 21 months from account opening on qualifying balance transfers, then a 17.99% - 29.99% variable APR, the card offers the following benefits: cellphone protection, roadside dispatch, zero liability protection and more.

Or if you’re a small business owner who wants to earn cash back on your company expenses, you may want to consider the Ink Business Unlimited® Credit Card. The $0-annual-fee card lets cardholders earn unlimited 1.5% cash back on every purchase made for your business. Benefits include travel and emergency assistance services, purchase protection, extended warranty protection, auto rental collision damage waiver and roadside dispatch.
