Wells Fargo rewards points are typically worth 1 cent each and can be redeemed for a variety of options such as cash rewards, travel and gift cards.
The Wells Fargo Rewards program offers value for consumers who want simplicity and like to redeem points to cover past purchases, get a check or share with a family member. However, for consumers who prefer to optimize their rewards for maximum travel value, this rewards program falls short of similar credit card rewards programs.
Wells Fargo recently added the option to transfer your points to outside travel loyalty programs. By transferring rewards to partner programs, you may be able to increase their value. However, compared to programs like Chase Ultimate Rewards® and American Express Membership Rewards, Wells Fargo has a very small set of partners. You’ll find limited opportunities to maximize your point value. Note that Wells Fargo has also hinted that it may add new partners in the future, making Wells Fargo Rewards a program to keep your eye on.
The main way to earn Wells Fargo points is through a Wells Fargo credit card. Currently, there are five cards that earn rewards points.
You can generally expect each Wells Fargo Rewards point to be worth 1 cent each. Similar to its top competitors — American Express, Chase, Citi and Capital One — Wells Fargo has travel transfer partners, which may increase the value of your points. When you transfer rewards points to travel programs, you may be able to get a good deal on a flight using your points, thereby increasing their value.
Currently, there are no redemption bonuses, and this list of transfer partners is small and mainly comprised of international airlines. For this reason, Wells Fargo points are less valuable than other transferable points.
There are several ways to redeem your reward points from your Wells Fargo credit card.
Cash back
Value: 1 point = 1 cent
Perhaps the easiest way to redeem your Wells Fargo Rewards points for cash back is to cover eligible purchases on your credit card. This option allows you to select a recent purchase and get a credit to cover the specific purchase. You can do this for purchases as small as $1, but you must have enough points to cover the entire purchase.
Other redemption options include a statement credit to your Wells Fargo card in any amount, a deposit into your Wells Fargo bank account or a paper check in the mail. Paper checks can only be done when you have $25 or more in rewards. If you have a qualifying Wells Fargo checking account or mortgage, you can redeem your rewards as a credit to that account (you must still make any regularly scheduled payments).
Another option is to Pay with Rewards through PayPal, and redeem your credit card rewards to go toward online purchases with participating merchants when checking out with PayPal.
Finally, if you have a Wells Fargo ATM or debit card, you can redeem points for cash in $20 increments.
Travel
Value: 1 point = 1 cent or more
You can book travel via the Wells Fargo Rewards website, including flights, hotels, car rentals and more. Wells Fargo Autograph® Card and Wells Fargo Autograph Journey℠ Card holders can also transfer their Wells Fargo Rewards to travel partners, including:
For example, a flight from New York City to Paris using Air France miles can cost as little as 26,500 miles, which makes each mile worth 1.6 cents.
Gift cards
Value: 1 point = 1 cent
You can redeem points for gift cards as low as $10. Examples of some of the merchants available include Airbnb, Apple, CVS, Google Play, Home Depot, Hulu, PetSmart and Uber and UberEats. With some gift cards, you may have the option of choosing digital or physical gift cards.
Merchandise
Value: 1 point = 0.9 cents
You can use points to shop online via the Wells Fargo Rewards website for items including sporting goods, household items, electronics and more. The downside is that your points have less value with this redemption option.
Sharing
Value: 1 point = 1 cent
You can send rewards as a gift to someone who is a Wells Fargo customer. The option to share rewards might not be as obvious as some of the other options — when you’re in the Wells Fargo Rewards app, you can get there through the following steps:
