Plus, the card only requires you to spend approximately $167 per month for three months to earn the sign-up bonus.

  • Intro APR on purchases and balance transfers

If you need to finance a large purchase, the Capital One Quicksilver Cash Rewards Credit Card offers an interest-free period on purchases for more than a year. You’ll get an APR of 0% intro on purchases for 15 months. Following that, a 19.24% - 29.24% (Variable) APR applies.

What to watch out for with the Capital One Quicksilver Cash Rewards Credit Card

Although this card offers an elevated rewards rate on every purchase, there are cards available that offer an even higher cash back rate on general purchases, like the Citi Double Cash® Card or the Wells Fargo Active Cash® Card.

  • Balance transfer fee

If you transfer a balance to the Capital One Quicksilver Cash Rewards Credit Card, a balance transfer fee applies. While this fee is common, there are a few no-balance-transfer-fee credit cards available. However, you should know that those cards typically offer shorter interest-free periods than cards that charge balance transfer fees.

Alternate cash back cards

Capital One Quicksilver Cash Rewards Credit Card vs. Citi Double Cash® Card

If you want a $0-annual-fee flat-rate card with an even longer interest-free period on balance transfers, the Citi Double Cash® Card may be a better choice. You’ll earn 2% on every purchase with unlimited 1% cash back when you buy, plus an additional 1% as you pay for those purchases. To earn cash back, pay at least the minimum due on time. Plus, earn 5% total cash back on hotel, car rentals and attractions booked with Citi Travel.

You’ll also get a 0% intro APR for 18 months on Balance Transfers. After that, a 18.24% - 28.24% (Variable) APR applies. Unfortunately, there is no intro APR for regular purchases, so this wouldn’t be a good card for financing a new purchase.

Rewards are earned as Citi ThankYou® Points, which can be redeemed for cash back as statement credits, direct deposits, checks, travel, merchandise or gift cards, or transferred to select Citi hotel and airline partners.

Capital One Quicksilver Cash Rewards Credit Card vs. Blue Cash Everyday® Card from American Express

If you prefer a card that offers a higher cash back rate in popular spending categories — but also don’t mind earning a lower rate on general purchases — the Blue Cash Everyday® Card from American Express may be a better fit.

Cash back is received in the form of Reward Dollars that can be redeemed as a statement credit and at Amazon.com checkout.

There’s a $0 annual fee, and you can enjoy an intro APR of 0% on purchases for 15 months, then an 20.24%-29.24% Variable APR. You’ll also get an intro APR of 0% on balance transfers for 15 months, followed by a 20.24%-29.24% Variable APR.

And like the Citi Double Cash® Card, the Blue Cash Everyday® Card from American Express charges foreign transaction fees if you use it to make purchases outside the U.S.
