How LendingTree Rates Credit Cards?
Our experts rate credit cards based on several factors including card benefits, bonus offers and independent research. Credit card issuers do not influence or have a say in our card ratings. Read our credit card methodology here.If you enjoy eating out or going to shows and concerts, then the Capital One Savor Cash Rewards Credit Card can help you earn cash back rewards on the things you love to do. It’s a $0 annual fee card that earns unlimited rewards on dining, entertainment, select streaming services and more.
This card is designed for people with good / excellent credit. If you meet that requirement and spend a lot on food and entertainment, then this card could be a good fit for you. If you’re not a huge spender in those categories, then a flat-rate cash back card like the Wells Fargo Active Cash® Card might be better for you.
We’ll break down the card’s best benefits and some potential drawbacks, as well as compare it to a similar card to help you decide if it’s the best match for your needs.

Solid cash back rewards rate on dining and entertainment
If you’re looking to offset dining and entertainment purchases, the Capital One Savor Cash Rewards Credit Card offers a good cash back rate on those purchases: 3% Cash Back at grocery stores (excluding superstores like Walmart® and Target®), on dining, entertainment and popular streaming services, 5% Cash Back on hotels and rental cars booked through Capital One Travel (terms apply), 8% Cash Back on Capital One Entertainment purchases, 1% Cash Back on all other purchases.
Generous sign-up bonus
New cardholders can earn $200 cash back after you spend $500 on purchases within 3 months from account opening.
Annual fee
The Capital One Savor Cash Rewards Credit Card charges a $0 annual fee (see rates & fees).
Intro APR periods on purchases and balance transfers
The Capital One Savor Cash Rewards Credit Card offers a longer-than-average intro APR on both purchases and balance transfers. You’ll get an APR of 0% intro on purchases for 15 months, after which an APR of 19.49% - 29.49% (Variable) will apply. There’s also an APR of 0% intro on balance transfers for 15 months. After that, a 19.49% - 29.49% (variable) APR applies (see rates & fees).
Potentially high APR
The Capital One Savor Cash Rewards Credit Card comes with a high APR of 19.49% - 29.49% (Variable) (see rates & fees). Interest on this card could be particularly costly if you have a lower credit score and land on the high end of the APR range. You should avoid carrying a balance after the intro APR period expires.
Limited spending categories for higher cash back rate
If you tend to spread your spending around on a lot of different categories, it could make more sense to choose a card with a flat 2% rate on all purchases, like the Wells Fargo Active Cash® Card or the Citi Double Cash® Card, rather than one that is focused on just a few spending categories.
Grocery store category exclusions
If you typically make a lot of grocery purchases at superstores like Target or Walmart, beware that those purchases will not qualify for the higher grocery store cash back rate.
If you’re looking for a higher rewards rate on dining out for a $0 annual fee, the U.S. Bank Altitude® Go Visa Signature® Card offers just that. Cardholders earn 4X points on dining, takeout, and restaurant delivery, 2X points at grocery stores, grocery delivery, gas stations, EV charging stations and on streaming services. Plus, a $15 credit for annual streaming purchases like Netflix, Hulu, Spotify®, Apple Music, Disney+, HBO Max and more! And earn 1X points on all other eligible purchases.
However, the Capital One Savor Cash Rewards Credit Card has the edge on entertainment, which is ideal if the bulk of your spending is on tickets and events. Plus, while the U.S. Bank Altitude® Go Visa Signature® Card offers a similar sign-up bonus, it comes with a much higher spending requirement. Cardholders earn 20,000 bonus points when you spend $1,000 in eligible purchases within the first 90 days of account opening.
The U.S. Bank Altitude® Go Visa Signature® Card also offers an intro APR of 0% for 12 billing cycles on purchases, after which an APR of 17.74% to 28.74% (variable) will apply. On balance transfers, there’s an intro APR of 0% for 12 billing cycles on balance transfers. A 17.74% to 28.74% (variable) APR applies after. The balance transfer fee is either 3% of the amount of each transfer or $5 minimum, whichever is greater.
It basically comes down to purchase habits. If you tend to spend more on takeout, food delivery and dining than you do on entertainment, the U.S. Bank Altitude® Go Visa Signature® Card’s rewards rate makes more sense.

If your idea of a good time is dinner and a show, and you do that frequently, the Capital One Savor Cash Rewards Credit Card makes a great cash back card to have in your wallet.
But if attending concerts, sporting events and other types of entertainment aren’t high on your list, you may be better off with a card that offers a more generous cash back rate on the types of purchases you spend the most on, such as grocery stores, gas or travel.
