If you’re looking to maximize the cash back you earn and need flexibility in how much you can put on your card, the Capital One Spark Cash Plus is our top pick for the best Capital One business card. This charge card earns flat-rate cash back and has no preset spending limit.
Capital One offers small business owners straightforward value with its line of Spark business credit cards, all of which earn rewards at a flat rate. Which Capital One business card is best for your needs depends on whether you want to earn cash back or miles, how frequently you travel and how good your credit is.
Based on our research of cards available through Capital One, we compiled a list of the best business credit cards from the issuer based on a variety of categories and types of business spending.
Earn 2% cash back on every purchase; 5% cash back on hotels and rental cars booked through capital one travel. Plus, earn up to a $1,000 cash bonus; $500 once you spend $5,000 in the first 3 months, and $500 once you spend $50,000 in the first 6 months of account opening.
Spending about $1,666.67 per month should allow you to hit the first spend requirement, but to reach the second, you’ll need to spend approximately $8,333.33 per month on the card.
The Capital One Spark Cash Plus also offers an annual $200 bonus if you spend $200,000 or more per year on the card.
Note that the Capital One Spark Cash Plus has a $150 annual fee.
The Capital One Spark Cash Plus charges a $150 annual fee. If you spend $7,500 per year on the card, you can recoup the amount of the annual fee in cash back. And if you spend more than $30,000, you can recoup the annual fee amount plus start to earn more than you would with a card earning 1.5% back and charging no annual fee. So, for businesses that require a heavy spend each year, the Capital One Spark Cash Plus can pay for itself nicely.
You should also know that the Capital One Spark Cash Plus is a charge card. The good thing about it being a charge card rather than a traditional credit card is that you have no preset spending limit. If you need to make a big purchase, this card offers flexibility to do so. You don’t have unlimited spending power, however, because what you can spend adapts based on factors such as your purchase and payment history.
The potential downside to this being a charge card is that if you find yourself short on cash one month, you can’t just make a minimum payment and roll the balance over. Payment is due in full each month on the Capital One Spark Cash Plus, or you’ll be charged a 2.99% monthly fee.
